While appearing on Ryan Satin’s “Out of Character” podcast, Big E stated that “I’d be cleared to live a normal life and I am cleared to live a normal life. But I’m not cleared to be taking off and hitting suicide spears and to be taking back bumps.”

Big E was injured during a match on SmackDown back in March where he broke his neck.

He said in an interview with ESPN’s Marc Raimondi that he is expected to make a “complete recovery”. He will have his neck re-evaluated at the six-month and nine-month marks. One year from his injury, Big E will be evaluated once again to determine where things are at and if resuming his in-ring is possible.

The former WWE champion has been open about how grateful he is for the amount of support he’s received since his injury. He has kept fans and colleagues up-to-date via social media, often with video messages.

Big E staying involved with WWE while injured

While unable to compete in the ring, he has been carrying out duties for WWE. Last month, he was a scout during WWE tryouts over SummerSlam weekend. As a former college athlete, he was more interested in scouting NIL talent because he didn’t come from the indie scene.

"I thought, if it was all Indie talent, I don’t know if I would have said yes. Not because I have a lack of respect for Indie talent, it’s the opposite. I can’t really speak to that experience. I never wrestled on the Independents and you have better eyes. There’s Norman Smiley, Steve Corino, so many of these guys, men and women, as coaches in NXT, who have a better eye for that stuff. I didn’t think I fit as well there. They told me the average age is 23 as well for the tryouts. I was 23 in 2009 when I got signed as a former college athlete. I see myself in so many of these men and women who are trying out right now. I just wanted to be here to lend a hand, give advice, whatever it is. I was also just tired of being in the house. I wanted to get out of the house and help out. It’s been cool to see my friends in passing”"

It is excellent news to hear that Big E has been cleared to live a normal life, even if he can’t wrestle right now. His injury could’ve been so much worse. To see him moving around and traveling is incredible. It’s good to see WWE keeping him involved with the company. Who knows? Maybe it could be something he’s interested in after his post in-ring career ends, whenever that is. Big E is a delight with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Any time WWE can utilize him, they should.

Of course, we all hope to see Big E back in the ring someday. If it isn’t meant to be, Big E still being here and living his life is more than enough. We at Daily DDT wish the best for Big E.
