NXT Worlds Collide is a welcome surprise to what is going to be an action-packed weekend of professional wrestling. The showcase brings some of the best in NXT UK over to WWE NXT 2.0 to close out the brand and unify championships. There’s one match fans have their eyes on and that is the women’s title match. Mandy Rose defends against Blair Davenport and NXT UK Women’s Champion, Meiko Satomura. Satomura is a name that many wrestling fans will know, but others will not recognize. More fans should know about Satomura and her hall-of-fame-worthy career.

Let’s look at what Satomura has accomplished in her career that spans nearly three decades. Multiple championships? Check. Year-long runs holding major titles? Check. Some of the best women in the industry today opining to work with her. Check. Satomura’s career is one that all professional wrestlers should experience and it is astounding that WWE has finally brought her over to the United States for what should be a massive angle.

Satomura has picked up championships in STARDOM, KO-D, AAW, and of course the NXT UK title that she’s held for 441 days. Her run in the industry has allowed her to face off with some of the best names in the business. Individuals like Aja Kong, Emi Sakura, Nyla Rose, Hikaru Shida, and Io Shirai are all throughout the list. And yet, there are some that are missing like Sasha Banks who has openly talked about Satomura being a dream opponent. Yes, fans of both women are one step closer to getting this match.

It will be interesting to see how WWE books this upcoming match. While Satomura is the legend that fans want to see, no one would be shocked if the promotion put Rose over at this time. This is what makes Davenport’s place in the match understandable. She will take the pin, allowing either woman to unify the championships. Whoever loses their title should be moved to the main roster, as the women’s division needs some fresh faces and a legend like Satomura would fit the bill.

Anytime Meiko Satomura steps into the ring it should be treated like a special moment. WWE knows how to present massive spectacles and her involvement in Worlds Collide immediately makes that show more interesting. Hopefully, this brings wrestling fans one step closer to the dream matches everyone has wanted to see for years.
