Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are the tag team champions WWE needs
The Bloodline holds a tight grip over everything WWE, with Roman Reigns standing front and center. He’s facing a big threat in Drew McIntyre at Clash at the Castle, but The Usos aren’t slotted to defend the undisputed WWE tag team championships on the show. Much of this is due to a lack of credible challengers in the tag team division. But there is one far-off team they haven’t faced, and two men that would be the perfect foil to this supergroup. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are the perfect 1-2 punch to snatch the titles away from the twins that stand next to Reigns.
Everyone sees it coming right? Zayn’s antics are going to cost Reigns in some fashion and the beatdown will ensue. Or, Reigns will lose in his own regard and decide to take the situation out on Zayn. Either way, there’s a massive “L” coming Zayn’s way at the hands of The Bloodline. In fact, it looks like Jey Uso is fighting the urge to pounce on Zayn in every single segment.

When this moment comes, because it will, who does Zayn have to count on? That list is incredibly short because Zayn has alienated nearly everyone on the roster not named Roman Reigns or Jimmy Uso. In fact, there’s probably only one individual on that list, and that’s KO.
Both men have hinted at their friendship and legacy together in recent promos during WWE programming. But their stories do not need to be run back for the WWE Universe. Owens and Zayn have a tied history that makes them one of the most interesting pairings on the roster today. Couple that with the fact that they are two of the best performers in the industry, and it’s a magical team in the making. The Usos are regarded as one of the top teams in professional wrestling, so think of the full program they could put on if given the opportunity to shine in a WWE that is going through a creative shift with Triple H. The possibilities for something big are all right there for the taking.
WWE needs to rebuild its tag team division with strong teams that are credible champions. The previous booking has hampered the group, but with the right care, everything could be turned around. Owens and Zayn teaming together would be a refreshing shift in the division, as neither man has held tag team gold. A nice way for them to close that loop would be to win the titles together and go over one of the best teams available.
The Usos stand atop the tag team heap in WWE, as they should. But one thing that makes championship reigns special are the opponents champions must face. Pairing Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn together is the tag team WWE needs and it must happen sooner, rather than later.
