WWE Extreme Rules 2022: 3 Brand New Opponents for Bobby Lashley
By Mark Justice
WWE Extreme Rules 2022 is one month from now, and the WWE has not yet booked a title match for Bobby Lashley. Although the U.S. Title has been defended on a bi-weekly basis, it is still important for it to be defended on PPV in order to maintain its prestige. Gunther and Sheamus just put on a classic at the Clash at the Castle with the Intercontinental title on the line and it is time for Lashley to get a staple match of his own.
The following will provide three brand new opponents for U.S. Champion Bobby Lashley on the road to WWE Extreme Rules 2022.
3.) Dexter Lumis
Dexter Lumis has been getting involved in Bobby Lashley’s title matches recently mostly because his main target, The Miz, has been involved in those title matches in some capacity. However, Lashley seems to be somewhat frustrated that Lumis continues to get involved in his title matches, especially since The Almighty does not take too kindly to tainted victories during his title reign. At some point, Lashley will have to deal with Lumis regarding this matter, After Lumis defeats Miz, that momentum should bring him to a title opportunity to finally battle Lashley.
2.) Kevin Owens
Kevin Owens has reinvented himself on WWE Raw as one of the top heels. By reinventing himself, he basically went back to his roots from NXT, where his ruthless, never-say-die attitude is taking center stage. While he would be a great heel to topple The Almighty, his direction seems to be invested in pursuit of the undisputed tag team championships with his best friend, Sami Zayn. They have quite a compelling storyline with the Usos, so Owens is unlikely to dethrone Lashley right now. However, it is definitely a feud that can sell on Raw.
1.) Seth Rollins
Seth Rollins is the best heel on Raw to dethrone Bobby Lashley by either the end of 2022 or on the road to WrestleMania 39. Rollins has lost a plethora of PPV matches that hindered his advancement to the main event scene, where he belongs. However, he is still an established talent with an immense amount of credibility who can not only bring prestige to the U.S. Title like Lashley has been doing but also redeem himself from his very brief title run in 2015, when he won the title from John Cena at SummerSlam but immediately lost it at Night of Champions a month later.
