On AEW Rampage: Grand Slam, “Hangman” Adam Page was in the Golden Ticket Battle Royale with the winner receiving an AEW World title shot.

As Page was on his way down the ramp before the match started, he was attacked by RUSH. The two went on to face each other as the last ones standing in the match.

Page will face Jon Moxley on October 18 in the champ’s hometown of Cincinnati. Unless, of course, MJF cashes in his Casino Battle Royal chip and beats Mox between now and then. Or if Juice Robinson beats Moxley next week on Dynamite. There are a lot of factors at play here.

If everything goes as planned, we’ll have former champion versus current champion in a first-time match. It’s hard to believe that Page and Moxley have never faced each other one-on-one before. As Grapsody’s Will Washington pointed out, they’ve only ever shared the ring twice. The first time was when Mox teamed with PAC to face Hangman and Omega way back on the third episode of Dynamite. The second time was when Page returned last year at the Casino Ladder Match.

Washington also said that it was rumored that Moxley was scheduled to win the Full Gear Eliminator Match last year. He would’ve gone on to face Page for the AEW World Championship. However, Moxley took time away from AEW to take care of his sobriety.

RUSH would’ve been a fun opponent for Moxley. At first glance, it seems like they’re keeping familiar faces in the title picture. Knowing that this match would’ve happened last year for the same title with the positions reversed makes it more intriguing. When factoring in that this is a first-time singles match between the two, it makes it even more compelling. With the match taking place in the champion’s hometown, it adds yet another layer.

The two will no doubt deliver a great match worthy of the world title.
