WWE saw a big return on Monday Night Raw when Baron Corbin arrived with former champion and Hall of Famer, JBL in tow. Corbin has long been a controversial individual on the WWE roster, and it’s not because he’s problematic outside the ring. His presentation inside the ring hindered an individual that once showed a lot of potential. With Triple H in charge, Baron Corbin is one that fans should keep an eye on to rise the roster and gain fan support at the same time.

Corbin isn’t one of those individuals on the list of WWE performers who did not get opportunities to succeed. In fact, he saw the opposite and that became a problem in its own right. Corbin saw chance after chance, booking with the top babyfaces WWE had to offer. Thanks in part to the convoluted booking that was commonplace with Vince McMahon in charge, Corbin suffered. He suffered to the point that WWE even named him as the sole problem with fans’ disgust with the product. He was, in fact, not the problem.

The reaction to Corbin was understandably mixed. His track record at the top of the roster turned many off to anything that he’s involved in. But that doesn’t mean he couldn’t become someone of note on the roster if given the time and booking to rebuild him.

Everything about Corbin fits into the mold that WWE consistently presents as a “superstar.” He’s big, can work with any style in the ring, and his microphone skills have grown over the years. It’s still pretty surprising to realize that Corbin’s only title run in WWE was a 70-day stint as the Intercontinental Champion back in 2017.

Fans will remain mixed about his work on the main roster. His gimmicks as King Corbin, Constable Corbin, General Manager, and most recently, Happy Corbin were not working. Now, it will be interesting to see what this new iteration of Corbin brings and if there’s space for fans to get behind or even show an interest in what he does as a character.

Next. Now is the time for a lengthy Sheamus title run. dark

Corbin could grow into a solid challenger in the WWE Raw main event picture once a main title is brought back to that show. But using him to continue to flesh out the mid-card is a solid move as well. The booking of past years left him as someone that was quickly dismissed, but that should all change with Triple H running the show.
