AEW Dynamite is back on Wednesday and will be broadcast live on TBS from Bridgeport, Connecticut as the promotion’s flagship show will present its Full Gear go-home episode.

The build to Full Gear has been hit-and-miss, with some matches feeling rushed without much for fans to invest in, and other programs having a nice build, allowing fans to get emotionally invested.

AEW has a number of promotional segments planned for Wednesday’s Dynamite episode, including hearing from MJF, Jon Moxley, Saraya, Britt Baker, and Samoa Joe, following Joe’s blindside attack on Wardlow last week.  We will also hear from The Acclaimed in the form of a music video, in the premiere of “A Hand For a Hand”.

It should be an interesting two hours of wrestling on Wednesday, as AEW heads into its final pay-per-view of what has been the most challenging year in the promotion’s young existence.

Let’s take a look at the announced matches for AEW Dynamite and what to expect from each:

Anthony Bowens vs Swerve Strickland

Jon Moxley has undoubtedly been AEW’s MVP this year.  But if you are looking at a performer that may be a future most valuable player for the promotion, look no further than Swerve Strickland.

Everything Swerve has touched since joining AEW has turned to gold.  Swerve has been fantastic on the microphone and in the ring and he has shown in his short stint in the promotion he can get extremely over as a face and also play the role of a heel to perfection.

If 2023 doesn’t involve Swerve getting an AEW Championship program against either Jon Moxley or MJF, it will be a huge mistake by Tony Khan.  Even though Strickland has spent most of this year as a tag team competitor, there is no doubt that Swerve can help carry a main event program and match.

Full Gear should signal the end of Swerve in Our Glory, and the start of a successful singles run for Swerve.  We will get a taste of that on Wednesday when Strickland takes care of Anthony Bowens.  Winner: Swerve Strickland

Death Triangle vs Top Flight & AR Fox for the AEW Trios Championships

This match is exciting for a couple of reasons.  It will feature six very talented performers and two of the best high fliers in the promotion in Rey Fenix and Dante Martin.  But the more important aspect of this match is the return of Darius Martin.

Darius Martin has had some terrible luck over the past 18 months and has spent more time rehabbing injuries than wrestling.  And Martin’s return on Wednesday truly signifies his spirit and dedication to his craft.

Death Triangle isn’t losing this match or the AEW Trios Titles on Wednesday night.  However, the return of Darius Martin gives AEW another top-tier tag team in Top Flight, which can help elevate the division even further.  Winners: Death Triangle

Toni Storm vs The Bunny in an interim AEW Women’s Championship Eliminator Match

On the eve of her interim AEW Women’s Championship match against Jamie Hayter at Full Gear, Toni Storm will welcome back The Bunny to active competition.

Much like the Top Flight and AR Fox match, this one is less about the result than it is about the return of a wrestler that has worked extremely hard to get back to the job they love.

The Bunny will push Toni Storm in this interim AEW Women’s Title eliminator, but in the end, it won’t be enough to earn her a future AEW Women’s Title shot.  But she may just do enough damage to Toni Storm to soften her up for a title change on Saturday.  Winner: Toni Storm

Ethan Page vs Bandido in an AEW World Championship Eliminator Tourney Semifinal

In what should be a very exciting match in the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament, AEW newcomer, Bandido will battle Ethan Page for a spot in the tournament final at Full Gear.

Ethan Page seems to be in the midst of his first singles push in AEW, after scoring a win over Eddie Kingston last week.

While this tournament bracket is noticeably devoid of star power, it is also noticeably full of plus performers that are deserving of a single’s push, most notably Ethan Page and Ricky Starks.

Page versus Starks is the tournament final to make, with the winner coming out of Full Gear to challenge either MJF or Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title at Winter is Coming in December.  But to get there Ethan Page needs to find a way to beat Bandido on Wednesday.  And he will.  Winner: Ethan Page

Claudio Castagnoli & Bryan Danielson vs Chris Jericho & Sammy Guevara

In yet another installment of the Jericho Appreciation Society versus the Blackpool Combat Club, the four men that will vie for the Ring of Honor World Title at Full Gear will meet in a tag team match on Dynamite.

The outcome of this match doesn’t mean much in the rivalry between these two factions.  However, this match could be used to build more intrigue for the four-way match at the upcoming pay-per-view.

Showing some dissension in the ranks of both teams leading up to Saturday would be a great use of this match as we head into Full Gear.  A rift in the JAS, causing questions about whether Sammy Guevara can stay loyal to his mentor when faced with the opportunity to be the Ring of Honor Champion would add layers that the pay-per-view match could use in its build.

Jeff Jarrett being in AEW is him realizing a decade old dream. dark. Next

If this happens to take place, it should lead to a win for Danielson and Castagnoli on Wednesday, and create some added intrigue to what might happen the next time these four men are in the ring together on Saturday night.  Winners: Claudio Castagnoli & Bryan Danielson
