WWE NXT New Years Evil Predictions For January 10, 2023: Indi Hartwell Will Shock The World
By Mark Justice
WWE NXT New Year’s Evil 2023 is this Tuesday, and the WWE has made six matches official for this special event. The following will provide some rapid-fire predictions for what should be an interesting event that establishes a plethora of number-one contenders across the board.
WWE NXT New Years Evil 2023 is scheduled to take place on January 10, 2023, live on USA Network. Here are some match card predictions.
Pretty Deadly vs. Malik Blade & Edris Enofe vs. Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Brooks Jensen & Josh Briggs [NXT Tag Team Title #1C Gauntlet Match]
On WWE NXT, the tag division is mid at best, so WWE had to bring in The New Day to juice things up a bit and put over one of these tag teams as a booking methodology to make this division more compelling to watch. Pretty Deadly is the only officially announced team for this gauntlet match, but it is likely that Joe Gacy’s lackeys, the former Grizzled Young Veterans, win this match to be fed to The New Day at Vengeance Day in February because New Day is already in the middle of a feud with the entire Dyad, especially after Kofi Kingston battled Gacy in the main event of NXT last week.
Prediction: Grizzled Young Veterans/Dyad
Indus Sher vs. The Creed Brothers [Tag Match]
While Grizzled Young Veterans/Dyad gets fed to The New Day at NXT Vengeance Day, Indus Sher will build up their momentum by defeating former NXT Tag Team Champions in the Creed Brothers. WWE seems to be building up this team as a dominant force to be reckoned with, especially since WWE botched Veer’s main roster debut with the endless vignettes of him coming. They will likely be the heels who dethrone The New Day during WrestleMania weekend for NXT: Stand & Deliver. Henceforth, they need the win here to get to that tag title opportunity.
Prediction: Indus Sher
Charlie Dempsey vs. Hank Walker (w/Drew Gulak) [Submission Match]
Charlie Dempsey will defeat Hank Walker because he needs to defeat Walker to make a statement to Drew Gulak, whom he will likely battle at NXT Vengeance Day. Walker is merely Drew Gulak’s apprentice/sidekick here. He would just be hindering Dempsey’s momentum here if he won. It seems that this feud is based on submission specialists executing their technical abilities in mat-to-mat wrestling without any fancy high-flying maneuvers, which Gulak opposed weekly back on 205 Live with the no-fly zone in his signature PowerPoint presentations.
Prediction: Charlie Dempsey
Dijak vs. Tony D’Angelo [NXT North American Title #1 Contender’s Match]
Dijak will defeat Tony D’Angelo to become the new number one contender because D’Angelo already lost his title opportunity against Wes Lee on the December 27, 2022, episode of NXT and thereby failed to avenge Wes Lee for injuring him on the September 27, 2022, episode of NXT. Meanwhile, Dijak has already teased a future title match with Wes Lee in his repackaged return on the November 22, 2022 episode of NXT, where he wiped Lee out. This match is merely a means for Dijak to get his first win since returning to NXT and get his title shot at Vengeance Day.
Prediction: Dijak
Women’s Battle Royale [NXT Women’s Title #1 Contender’s Match]
Mandy Rose was supposed to defend the NXT Women’s Title against Iron Survivor Roxanne Perez at this event, but that process was expedited due to Rose being unceremoniously fired by WWE. As a backup plan, WWE booked a 20-women battle royal to determine the next contender for the new champion, Perez. Her main rival, Cora Jade, is still busy feuding with Wendy Choo, so Indi Hartwell will win and get fed to Perez at Vengeance Day before getting called up to reunite with Candice LeRae on Raw, where the tag division needs some serious challengers.
Prediction: Indi Hartwell
Bron Breakker vs. Grayson Waller [NXT Championship]
In the main event, Bron Breakker will defend the NXT Title against men’s Iron Survivor Grayson Waller. Grayson Waller earned this opportunity by defeating four other superstars — Carmelo Hayes, Joe Gacy, JD McDonagh, and Axiom — in the first-ever Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline. Unlike Roxanne Perex, who won the first-ever Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge and became champion, Waller will not obtain gold in his quest because Carmelo Hayes, whom Waller screwed in that Survivor Challenge, is the right person to dethrone Breakker at NXT: Stand & Deliver in April.
Prediction: Bron Breakker
