The AEW women’s division receiving a much-deserved boost with a Blood and Guts match would be best for business.

The women of AEW have certainly raised their game since the end of 2022. Between the Jamie Hayter VS Hikaru Shida championship match, Britt Baker VS Saraya, and the tag team street fight between Tay Melo and Anna Jay VS Ruby Soho and Willow Nightingale, the AEW women’s division is on a roll. The division has come a long way since the debut of All Elite Wrestling in 2019.

The great thing about the AEW women’s roster is it has gained so much depth over the past year and a half. It immediately set up a culture in the women’s locker room to gain veterans such as Ruby Soho, Saraya, Madison Rayne, Toni Storm, and Athena. Their presence and experience is a huge plus for the younger women in the locker room, such as Red Velvet, Willow Nightingale, Skye Blue, Kierra Hogan, Anna Jay, Tay Melo, and Jade Cargill.

AEW has the best mix of veteran and younger talent on their women’s roster to work some magic in the ring. But what’s one thing that AEW has been missing with their women’s division? The answer to that question is a big-time match showcasing AEW’s best talent. Luckily, Tony Khan can do that by utilizing his biggest and most hardcore match, the Blood and Guts match.

The first couple of Blood & Guts matches has been some of the best matches on AEW TV. They showcased great story elements between MJF and Chris Jericho in the inaugural Blood and Guts match. And in the second Blood and Guts match, brought us a great match all the way around between the Jericho Appreciation Society and the Blackpool Combat Club.

Elevating the women’s division with a Blood and Guts match would be a chance to showcase AEW’s best women in one match. The women in AEW are no strangers to getting in hardcore matches, so this honestly is the time to go with the women for AEW’s most dangerous match.  The question is, who would AEW decide to go with in this match?

The seeds have been planted in the storyline with a group wars match between the Outsiders in AEW, with their opposition being the AEW Originals. Going with that method, you can pretty much figure out who is going to be part of each side. On one side, I believe you will see Toni Storm and Saraya as the leaders of the Outsider group and Jaime Hayter and Britt Baker leading the Originals group. From there you have a massive pool of women to pick and choose from.

What makes sense is having Shida, Cargill, and mystery woman X join the Originals team. I think this is the best way to go, due to Shida having dissension with Saraya and Storm. And having the TBS Women’s Champion as the team’s enforcer and unstoppable force, who wouldn’t want a 49-0 wrestler on their team?

As for the mystery person, wouldn’t it be something if Thunder Rosa made her big return and teamed up with Britt Baker after the year-long rivalry they had? Chaos!

For the Outsider team, ROH Women’s Champion Athena and Ruby Soho join Hayter and Baker along with a mystery woman on their side as well. Athena with her recent mean streak makes all the sense in the world for the Outsider team. As for Soho, it’s a little more difficult.

Baker helped Soho to victory over Storm in this past week’s episode of Dynamite. But I can easily see a scenario where she really didn’t ask for Baker’s help to beat Storm and joins the Outsider team despite her hatred for Baker, and it also makes sense with Soho being a WWE product as well.

The mystery woman I have in mind would be the biggest debut in AEW women’s history. I believe Mercedes Mone is the one wrestler that works as a mystery component, just for the sheer fact that if not her, then who else makes sense in that role?

Most people would believe that Mone would be part of the match if there was a mystery woman involved. There would be a ton of disappointed fans, especially if it’s a women’s wrestler that doesn’t make a lot of sense.

We could talk about what team goes over another day. The women having this match would be a huge stepping stone to major success. If Tony Khan books this the right way, people should be lining up and apologizing for how he’s booked women’s wrestling.
