Kota Ibushi is a free agent and if WWE was lucky to secure his abilities these are three must-make matches.

WWE had the opportunity to sign Kota Ibushi back in 2016 at the end of the CWC but was unable to bring that to fruition. Since then, Ibushi went on a career-altering run in New Japan Pro Wrestling. Now that his time with the promotion is over, he’s become the biggest free agent available in wrestling. If WWE were to make the right moves to secure his talents in 2023, here are three dream matches that immediately jump off the page.

GUNTHER

Cody Rhodes may be the man with all the momentum coming out of the 2023 edition of the Royal Rumble, but GUNTHER had the star-making performance. He spent more than an hour in the Rumble and stood face-to-face with some of the biggest names in the company such as Bobby Lashley and Brock Lesnar. He’s succeeded in elevating the Intercontinental Championship and if the future runs the right course he should become a main event performer.

Ibushi and GUNTHER have never faced off in the ring and have all the makings for being a masterpiece if given the chance to do their best work. It would be interesting to watch Ibushi’s intensity and willingness to take insane bumps going up against GUNTHER’S power as presented in WWE.

Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins versus Kota Ibushi is a match that immediately jumps off the page. Rollins remains over with the fans and continues to excel in everything given to him. He’s a top name and the “Ace” of the WWE – one the company can rely on to do great work every time he’s given the chance to do so. Imagine a scenario where Ibushi is welcomed to the WWE with a match against Rollins, similar to Rhodes’s return to the company. They would have a masterful match and one that would easily be among the best of the year.

Finn Balor

Finn Balor and Kota Ibushi have a history. History includes them trading championships back in New Japan Pro. They battled in the Best of Super Juniors tournaments, for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title, and the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Titles. That’s all the history necessary to build what would be an important feud for promotion. It has been nearly 10 years since their last time competing against each other and seeing them go at it at this point in their career would be a sight to see in the WWE.

Kota Ibushi may not end up in WWE as All Elite Wrestling looks like the front-runner to get his talents. But if he was to show up in the WWE, these are three matches that would be a great way to welcome him into the WWE Universe.
