Jon Moxley versus Adam Page keeps both men busy and building momentum while outside the AEW title picture.

One thing All Elite Wrestling does well is building storylines outside the title picture that keeps important members of the roster busy. While there’s the criticism that the company only flexes this muscle in the men’s division, that still doesn’t delay the fact that the company builds some intriguing angles. Jon Moxley versus “Hangman” Adam Page is yet another example, as both men are in a position to be featured as main-event-level stars, without clogging up the championship title picture.

Accidental injuries happen in professional wrestling often. AEW took the injury suffered by Page back on October 18 and turned it into a framework for an angle involving two of the promotion’s biggest stars. Moxley injured Page, forcing him out with a concussion. Page wanted revenge and the two battled around that premise sense. All the while, Page is having some personal challenges with the idea of mending friendships from his past.

Moxley vs Page can lead to multiple outcomes that fans will enjoy

That is a perfect equation to building an angle that has fans invested in both men. Not only has Page targeted Moxley, but he’s also gone after Wheeler Yuta, defeating him back on January 11. Will Page look to go after Claudio Castagnoli and the Ring of Honor Championship next? Perhaps, but it’s clear that he’s not done with the Blackpool Combat Club. But that creates a three-on-one situation. Does that mean he’s going to need to make amends with The Elite to create an even situation? Are we getting the BCC versus The Elite for the AEW Trios Titles in the near future? All these questions and their potential answers build intriguing angles for everyone involved. And it does so without needlessly clogging up the title picture.

Fans would believe that either Moxley or Page are credible challengers for MJF as the AEW World Champion. However, pitting them against each other keeps them strong and creates opportunities for others to go after MJF, elevating their stock along the way.

AEW focuses on multiple performers in the men’s division, keeping them hot all at the same time. Important non-title feuds keep numerous performers hot and strong in the eyes of fans. This is what makes Jon Moxley versus Adam Page a vital angle for the company to tell successfully because it can lead to so many different possibilities.
