All Elite Wrestling fans hadn’t seen Christian Cage since Full Gear 2022, where “security guards” dragged him from ringside during the middle stages of the cage match between Luchasaurus and “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry, but that changed on the Feb. 15 episode of AEW: Dynamite.

After Perry scored another win over Brian Cage, the familiar tune of Christian’s entrance music greeted him on the entrance ramp. Not long after, the former world champion appeared on the stage to stare down his protégé-turned-nemesis.

Perry charged after Christian, but “The Instant Classic” came prepared, as he maced the former AEW World Tag Team Champion and removed the protective sling from his arm, indicating a clean bill of health.

With Christian Cage returning to AEW, he seems ready to renew hostilities with “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry.

Since Christian turned on Perry last June, fans have waited for the two to face each other. They thought it would come at All Out 2022, but Cage’s arm injury put a full-fledged outing on hold. Instead, AEW pulled the trigger on the Luchasaurus heel turn and used that and a 20-second Christian win to build the veteran’s heat.

From there, the promotion shifted the focus to Perry vs. Luchasarus, which culminated with the aforementioned cage match at Full Gear. After Perry toppled the big man, Cage and Luchasaurus disappeared from television to presumably give the feud time to refresh and Cage time to heal. In the interim, Perry settled into a midcard holding pattern, occupying his time by going after giants like Big Bill (what a dumb name) and teaming with HOOK.

Most notably, Perry stated his desire to win a singles championship. Given his current trajectory, the TNT or the All-Atlantic Championships seem like reasonable pursuits for him, but with Christian showing up to accost him with pepper spray, he clearly has one more obstacle to overcome before chasing those goals.

AEW put Perry in this program with Christian to use the latter’s Hall-of-Fame equity to further cement Perry — one of the company’s “four pillars” — as an ascending young star. Unfortunately, bad injury luck has stalled things a bit, but now that Christian is back, Perry can get that elusive signature win.

Next. Jon Moxley vs Adam Page is the perfect feud for both men in AEW. dark

Who knows, it could happen as soon as Revolution.
