If you remember, 2022 had promised us a brand new wrestling game called AEW Fight Forever. 365 days later and fans have yet to get the game from the newest player in professional wrestling.

AEW promised a December release for AEW Fight Forever, but that fell through as the game is still not on the shelf. Now, two months into 2023, fans are still waiting to get their hands on the highly-anticipated video game.

The problem is that the game is lost in some kind of internet purgatory. Not a single game news source can get a straight answer and we haven’t seen any updates. This game was ready to rocket into our homes in 2022. Now the game is being treated like a government cover-up.

If you go to Amazon, they put down the game’s release on December 31 of 2023. That is just a placeholder, but it feels like it could be true. GameStop says the game is going to come out in February. Steam says TBD next to the release date. Are we going to see this game in March? That is not likely to happen unless AEW Fight Forever is going to do a surprise drop.

A dim light shines as @AEWGames has announced that the IGN Fan Fest (February 17th) will have an “AEW Fight Forever” invasion. Will this announce the release date? The AEWGames Twitter account had been silent about the delay since December.

I predict the company is ready to put AEW Fight Forever back on the train track. The silence and confusion between retail websites is deafening. Late Fall of 2022, AEW Fight Forever was racking up so much steam and chugging along on the hype train. I fear that AEW is going to have to work twice as hard to get us back on that hype. No amount of “It plays like No Mercy” and “Minigames” is going to restore our faith if the game gets pushed back even further.

The WWE is already dropping spoilers and updates from WWE 2K23. AEW Fight Forever was supposed to be a competitor to WWE 2K22, but now players will have to compare it to this one.

Here is me hoping for the best and that AEW Fight Forever is some fresh meat in the wrestling genre.
