Many pushed for Jey Uso to be the man to defeat Roman Reigns, and that may come – but it won’t be until well after WrestleMania.

One of the big stories heading into the Elimination Chamber was what part would Jey Uso play in the main event. Many expected that Jey would show his commitment to The Bloodline. After a tense moment, he’d make it clear that he was siding with his brothers and cousin. However, that was not how things ended. Now, with the story not complete, there’s still an opportunity to see Jey defeat Roman Reigns in a post-WrestleMania storyline.

Baron Corbin was the last man to defeat Roman Reigns back in 2019. Since then, the question has remained, “Who will defeat Roman Reigns?” All eyes are firmly on Cody Rhodes heading into Mania season, but many loud supporters continue to rally behind Jey being the one to unseat his cousin. The first stanza of the Head of the Table arc featured Roman hazing his cousin into subjection. But even since that moment, there have been hints that Jey’s one incident away from snapping The Bloodline over his knee.

Elimination Chamber may have been that moment. Yes, Sami Zayn laid out Jey with the spear and that will be catalyst enough for Jey to want to side with Jimmy. Expectations are for the four men to battle at some point during WrestleMania 39. But what happens when they lose the titles? What happens when they attempt to help Roman defeat Cody, but Jey walks away instead of intervening? That would be the moment to point toward what is next for Roman after dropping the championship to Cody.

While it may not have the same career value, picking up a win over Roman after he loses the WWE Undisputed Championship, could still be the victory that catapults Jey into a strong single run of his own. The birth of “Main Event Jey Uso” has been one of the best aspects of Roman’s ascension since returning to the WWE and capping off that moment with Jey finally getting a win over him would tie things together. Perhaps this is a major match heading into SummerSlam 2023.

Yes, there is a strong contingent of fans that want to see Jey Uso pick up the big win over Roman Reigns to win the WWE Undisputed Championship. Will that happen? Probably not. But that doesn’t mean Jey will never get that victory. This is a perfect continuation and perhaps the final act of The Bloodline arc and it will come once WrestleMania season is over.
