Piper Niven is the perfect choice to win the 2023 Queen of the Ring
WWE has a chance to build a monster heel for the women’s division by booking Piper Niven to win the 2023 Queen of the Ring.
A new King and Queen of the Ring will be crowned on Saturday, May 27. Both tournaments are scheduled to occur at the Jeddah Superdome in Saudi Arabia. The tournament is meant to elevate a singles performer higher up the card, and while that isn’t always a success that doesn’t mean the opportunity isn’t there in 2023. Looking at the women’s division, there are several individuals that could use the boost, but Piper Niven stands out as the top choice to win this year’s Queen of the Ring.
WWE has a big opportunity with Niven. Even before her departure due to injury, fans wanted to see Niven go on a tear as a monster heel on the main roster. She’s shown what she can do both on the independent scene and as a part of WWE NXT UK. But tired booking practices under Vince McMahon immediately curtailed her ceiling on the main roster. Situations have “changed” and now is the time to put Niven on the track to a major run.
Niven made it to the finals of the last Queen of the Ring tournament, losing to Zelina Vega. Vega experienced a bit of a boost from the victory and is now in a role as a mouthpiece for Legado del Fantasma. Niven can take that same momentum and go on a run that can lead to a championship.
Niven has so many tools that fit into the mold of a superstar. Her offense looks amazing against her peers, especially the smaller women on the roster. But at the same time, she can match power with big names like Bianca Belair and Rhea Ripley. Niven also has the look of a dominating force that is necessary to become a believable threat and potential champion.
Remember what Vader was for WWE and WCW, he was a terrifying heel that could easily snatch away the championship from the top babyfaces of the company. WWE has the opportunity to build a similar force for the women’s division with Piper Niven. A big step to build her up would be to see her win the 2023 Queen of the Ring.
