WWE WrestleMania 39 Night 2 Predictions: Paul Heyman Will Screw Roman Reigns
By Mark Justice
WWE WrestleMania 39 is only two weeks away, and the WWE has made ten matches official for this “premium live event.” Since this event is two nights, it is expected that there will be six-seven matches per night. The following will provide some rapid-fire match card predictions for night two of what should be one of the most exciting PPVs of the year: WWE WrestleMania 39.
WWE WrestleMania 39 Night 2 is scheduled to take place on April 2, 2023, live on Peacock. Here are some match card predictions for night 2 of WrestleMania.
Street Profits vs. Alpha Academy vs. Viking Raiders vs. Braun Strowman & Ricochet [Fatal Four Way Tag Match]
Braun Strowman and Ricochet will win this rumored fatal four-way tag match because Vince McMahon likes Strowman and Triple H likes Ricochet. It is the perfect makeshift tag team for management to continue pushing down the fan’s throats, despite the lack of storytelling. This victory will likely give them another tag title shot. Hopefully, their inevitable loss to the champions leads to their dissension. Nonetheless, this fatal four-way was booked to add more names to the card, and Strowman and Ricochet are the biggest names in the match for the casual fanbase.
Prediction: Braun Strowman & Ricochet
Becky Lynch, Lita, & Trish Stratus vs. Damage Control [6-Women Tag Match]
Damage Control will defeat Becky Lynch, Trish Stratus, and Lita in a six-women tag match that was rumored to take place at Elimination Chamber. However, as mentioned earlier, Kai’s injury stopped that match from happening. Lita assisted Becky in her steel cage match victory against Bayley, and the Trish Stratus return led to tag gold for Lynch and Lita. Getting the tag titles off of Damage Control and booking them in this six-women tag match creates a great opportunity to redeem themselves from their many losses this year, especially with a major victory over two legends.
Prediction: Damage Control
Edge vs. Finn Balor [Hell in a Cell Match]
Finn Balor will defeat Edge in their rumored Hell in a Cell Match to solidify his leadership of the Judgment Day. Balor was the superstar who replaced Edge as the leader of the Judgment Day. Defeating Edge on the grandest stage of them all in what should be the end of rivalry inside the cell would do wonders for Balor and the Judgment Day. The whole point of this storyline was to elevate young talent, and that is what Edge is going to do as he plans to hang up his boots this year. Furthermore, Balor will unleash the demon, which is even more of a reason for him to win.
Prediction: Finn Balor
Austin Theory (c) vs. John Cena [U.S. Championship]
Austin Theory and John Cena have a lot in common as of late. Not only did they both fail their MITB cash-ins but they both did U.S. Open Challenges. Theory made it very clear that he was taking shots at John Cena throughout the calendar year for a potential WrestleMania match. He even shouted Cena’s signature catchphrase “The Champ is HERE!” every week. Although Theory is not ready to defeat Cena on this stage, Cena returned to challenge Theory for the title and he will put Theory over because there’s no way Cena is winning the belt with his Hollywood duties afoot.
Prediction: Austin Theory
Bray Wyatt vs. Bobby Lashley [Grudge Match]
Bray Wyatt will defeat Bobby Lashley because his whole supernatural gimmick protects him from losing. Brock Lesnar reportedly dodged a bullet here, as he was originally scheduled to battle Bray here. It can be presumed that Lesnar did not want to lose to this nascent gimmick so early in Wyatt’s character development. If Lesnar is going to ever lose to Wyatt, Wyatt would have to do a lot more with this character before doing so. Lashley, who is an established former world champion, really should not lose here either. This is the worst-booked match on the card.
Prediction: Bray Wyatt
Bianca Belair (c) vs. Asuka [Raw Women’s Championship]
Since Charlotte Flair politicized her way into the main event of WrestleMania, Bianca Belair will, unfortunately, have to defend her title in the middle of the card again. However, on the bright side, she will maintain her winning streak in a WrestleMania-worthy match against Asuka, who is well-established and reliable to put on impeccable performances consistently. It can be argued that Asuka should win to solidify her transformed Kana character and wipe away her 0-3 losing WrestleMania streak. However, Belair needs to keep this historic reign going and reach 365 days.
Prediction: Bianca Belair
Roman Reigns (c) vs. Cody Rhodes [Undisputed World Championship]
Cody Rhodes will defeat Roman Reigns via count out and fail to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, just like Dusty Rhodes did. Cody Rhodes was always a Plan B option for Reigns this year. The original plan by WWE was always Roman Reigns (c) vs. The Rock, a match that Reigns would have earned guaranteed retention. That means WWE was not originally intending for Reigns to lose his title at WrestleMania 39. Reigns are on the verge of reaching 1000 days as champion, which would be a historic number for WWE to pencil in the record books.
However, WWE will do the right thing and restart the match because they cannot end WrestleMania on a count out. Despite Rhodes being a Plan B, there is no other top babyface option on the roster who can dethrone Reigns at this point in time. Rhodes is the best option, and WrestleMania is the ideal stage to topple The Tribal Chief. Rhodes will defy any interferences from Paul Heyman and the Bloodline to pin Reigns clean with the Cross Rhodes and achieve his lifelong dream of main-eventing WrestleMania and becoming the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champ.
Prediction: Cody Rhodes
