Six names for the 2023 men’s WWE Money in the Bank ladder match
The WWE roster is deep from top to bottom and these six names would thrive in the 2023 Money in the Bank ladder match.
WrestleMania season has come and gone. What started as a lot of excitement, ended with a lot of heartbreak for reasons both in and out of the ring. There will be more than enough time to lament about each of those reasons, but there’s also more to “look forward” to within WWE. While the creative future of WWE with Vince McMahon playing puppet master isn’t a rosy sight, there are points worth keeping an eye on. One such moment is the Money in the Bank match.
The 2023 edition of the WWE Money in the Bank is scheduled for July 1 and will hail from the O2 Arena in London, England. If Clash at the Castle was anything of a sign, this will be a massive event for WWE, both from a box office standpoint, but also when it comes to major shows of the year. One of the feature matches will be the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match. It’s still early in the cycle, but let’s look at six performers that would make this match a compelling note on the WWE schedule.
Bron Breakker
Bron Breakker is no longer “Mr. NXT.” He dropped that championship to Carmelo Hayes, in a hotly anticipated match at NXT Stand & Deliver. It’s time to bring the talented performer up to the main roster, and inserting him into the Money in the Bank ladder match would be the right way to go.
Would Breakker be the right individual to pick up the win? Saddling him with the briefcase for months on end? That is dependent upon who is putting the pen to book backstage in WWE. It would be nice to see Breakker get a strong introduction to the main roster, and this is the perfect match to help start that movement.
Montez Ford
Montez Ford in the Money in the Bank ladder match? Yes, please. Take my money. Ford has long been in line for a singles push. Fans want to see just how big of a star he can become. WWE commentary talks about him as the next big individual star. To be honest, he and Angelo Dawkins have done all they can in the tag team division, as they frequently lose to the champions. With Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn holding the belts, there’s no view in the Street Profits picking up the titles any time soon.
This is why breaking Ford off on his own is the right move to make. That doesn’t mean he needs a violent split from Dawkins. But this can be the opportunity for him to chase individual goals while his partner does the same, such as they did with Elimination Chamber.
Damian Priest
Damian Priest continues to experience a stop-and-start status on the main roster. He saw a strong push she he first got the call-up from NXT, then was hit with mediocre storytelling for a bit. Judgement Day helped elevate him back up the ladder a bit, but he hasn’t done much. At least until this developing story with Rey Mysterio and Bad Bunny. If he comes out of this match and angle with some momentum, putting him in the MITB ladder match would be the right move.
Bronson Reed
Bronson Reed is an interesting name to watch as the spring and summer start. Triple H was protecting him well early in his return, and it will be interesting to see if that continues. Reed could work as a monster heel on the roster, but he is still a ways off from being seen as a threat to a championship. Putting him into the MITB ladder match would help deal with that, especially if he comes out with a win and holds on to the briefcase for an extended period of time. Reed’s run outside of the WWE showed that he can be a main event-level star. Now, fans must pay close attention to see if he reaches that same status back on WWE Raw.
Johnny Gargano
Johnny Gargano is the workhorse of this match. He’s put in great efforts in many different stipulation matches while in NXT and that expectation would follow him in this iteration of the ladder match. It will be interesting to see where he fits in the long-term booking of WWE Raw. He’s one of several names that returned when McMahon was away, and now that he’s back many wonder what that means for him and others on the roster. If Gargano is given an opportunity to shine, he would fit in well with the dynamic needed for the Money in the Bank ladder match.
Santos Escobar
Santos Escobar is a star in the making. If WWE truly invests in the LWO angle that is developing, this could be the move that helps launch him into a new realm, especially as the company continues to invest in its Latino fan base. He can do everything. Escobar looks the part, easily dressing and appearing a superstar. He can perform with any individual in the ring and is one of the best workers on the roster. He checks all the boxes and slotting him into the Money in the Bank ladder match is an easy choice.
Fans should look forward to the Money in the Bank ladder match at least for the spectacle. If these six names are involved, be prepared for a match of the year candidate.
