Bron Breakker is a fan favorite for the time but WWE needs to address his waning support before it is too late.

It didn’t matter if he was Daniel Bryan or Bryan Danielson, when he used the word “fickle” to describe pro wrestling fans, he was right. Many stars have experienced fans turning on them for one reason or another, and one WWE performer is heading for the same situation. Fans chanted “Bron Breakker Sucks” loudly during the February 14 edition of WWE NXT, signifying it is time for a drastic change with the champion or his location in the company.

At 25 years of age, Breakker is one of the most important names within the youth movement that is growing in the WWE. With the lineage and charisma fitting of a Steiner, he built a strong fanbase in less than two years. The two-time NXT Champion is nearing a year-long run with the title, but the perception of his place on the card is slowly starting to shift.

The fans booing him during the Tuesday episode is not a new occurrence, but it is certainly one that came the loudest. Fans are ready to see someone different at the top of the NXT card and many believe that man is Carmelo Hayes. Heading into WrestleMania season, these two are heading for a monumental showdown that will define this era of WWE NXT. The outcome should see Hayes holding the championship over his head in celebration, with Trick Williams by his side. But what happens next with Breakker is key.

What to do with Bron Breakker post-WrestleMania

Post-Mania time is the perfect opportunity for Breakker to kick in the door to the main roster. Slotting him on the WWE Raw brand and building him up would help create a star that the promotion needs. WWE can’t just throw him back into the equation like they’ve done with other returns, but give Breakker the superstar treatment with video packages and promotion heading into his first match. Breakker has shown that he can get over with the fans. Not only were people in the Performance Center cheering him on from the start, but he had a strong following within the vocal Internet wrestling community as well. That momentum can be replicated if he’s given the proper support on the main roster.

But what if he stays in NXT? Keeping him at the top of the card in this current iteration is detrimental to not only his direction but the rest of the men’s division as well. Individuals like Hayes, Williams, Grayson Waller, Tyler Bate, and others are building their stock and growing in the eyes of fans. Each of them could have a central position in the main event, but that only comes with Breakker being removed from the position. Perhaps a shift in character and turning him heel, further modeling his antics after that of his uncle Scott would be a move in the right direction. It would certainly tickle the hardcore fan base that has long wanted to see him embrace his family history in the industry and this would be a good way to see it through.

Bron Breakker is a talented performer that checks many of the boxes needed to be a main event-level star. Fans are slowly turning on him, but WWE has the opportunity to change course to develop another name that fans are willing to pay to see and tune into each week.
