WWE Night of Champions 2023 event card and information
All championships are on the line at WWE Night of Champions 2023 is Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
WWE is headed back to Saudi Arabia, continuing its controversial partnership with the highly critiqued ruling party for another showcase of production. This time, it is Night of Champions 2023 that is being revived as another PPV, taking the place of the previously announced King of the Ring and Queen of the Ring PLE.
Night of Champions originated back in June 2007 when it was titled Vengeance: Night of Champions. The last iteration was held in 2016 when the show was titled Clash of Champions. The format was the same, as it is promoted as a night in which all WWE championships will be defended. The 2023 edition is set for Saturday, May 27, and will be held at the Jeddah Super Dome, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
This will be the ninth event the WWE has held in Saudi Arabia since starting their partnership with each other back in 2018. The Crown Prince continues its practice to use various sporting leagues and events to “sportswash” its record of human atrocities, with this being the latest involvement including the WWE. Even as the WWE touts its involvement of the women’s division, individuals like Sami Zayn and MVP are unable to go on these trips due to their religious views which would lead to problems with the Saudi government.
