WWE Raw Predictions After PayBack: Gunther Will Squash Chad Gable

WWE Raw is kickstarting its road to WWE FastLane 2023, which is currently up in the air pertaining to any ongoing Raw feuds. On this week’s episode of WWE Raw, Gunther is scheduled to defend his Intercontinental Championship against Chad Gable in what will be his final test and last title match before surpassing the infamous milestone of Honky Tonk Man’s IC Title Record of 453 days, and GlasBros are scheduled to battle Viking Raiders in a tag team match, in which fans are anticipating Drew McIntyre’s betrayal of Matt Riddle and rumored heel turn.

In other news regarding WWE Raw, Cody Rhodes announced on the Grayson Waller Effect that Jey Uso has been traded from SmackDown to Raw. Zoey Stark executed a major babyface turn on Trish Stratus at PayBack, so it will be interesting to see if they feud. Judgment Day reigned supreme with all the gold after Finn Balor and Mr. MITB Damian priest finally co-existed to win tag gold from Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Seth Rollins successfully retained his world title, but it seems that Shinsuke Nakamura is not yet finished even after that clean loss in the main event.

With that being said, the following will focus on the announced matches and the idea of Gunther squashing Chad Gable on the road to WWE FastLane 2023.

WWE Raw is scheduled to take place on September 4, 2023, live on the USA Network, and Gunther will squash Chad Gable en route to FastLane.

Gunther will squash Chad Gable to retain the Intercontinental Championship and solidify his dominance in his final test to surpassing the Honky Tonk Man Record. Although Chad Gable has been advocated for by popular demand, he has not been built nearly well enough to be a major threat to Gunther’s IC Title. He has been in a comedic tag team with Otis for months and has barely gotten wins under his belt as a singles star. Despite how great he is in the ring and on the mic, Gable needs more momentum and credibility to end Gunther’s historic reign.

McRiddle vs. Viking Raiders [Tornado Tag Match]

McRiddle will defeat Viking Raiders to gain momentum toward a title shot against the new heel champions, Judgment Day. Many fans are expecting McIntyre to turn heel in this tornado tag match, as there were a plethora of rumors going around that McIntyre would turn heel upon his return, but that has not happened yet. He is still a directionless babyface who found himself in a meaningless makeshift tag team with an also-directionless babyface in Matt Riddle. However, his heel turn should not happen on a random Raw. Save it for a PPV Tag Title Match for more impact.
