WWE SmackDown Predictions After PayBack: John Cena Will BURY Jimmy Uso
By Mark Justice
WWE SmackDown is kickstarting its road to WWE FastLane 2023, which is currently up in the air pertaining to any ongoing SmackDown feuds. On this week’s episode of WWE SmackDown, AJ Styles is scheduled to battle Jimmy Uso after Jimmy Uso awkwardly screwed him in his main event match against Solo Sikoa last week, and Damage Control will battle the unexpected makeshift babyface tag team of Charlotte Flair and Shotzi Blackheart after Charlotte helped Shotzi even the odds against Damage Control by assisted her in her redemptive victory over Bayley.
In other news regarding WWE SmackDown, John Cena boosted the ratings on last week’s SmackDown with his huge return. He delivered an Attitude Adjustment to Jimmy Uso last week after telling him that the wrong Uso quit, as a subtle reference back to their promo in 2019 regarding the DUI mug shots. It will be interesting to see if Cena takes that interaction to the next level for a full fledged feud in the five week build to FastLane. Also, Rey Mysterio, the U.S. Champion, is a big red target on SmackDown with Escobar’s inevitable heel turn still looming.
With that being said, the following will focus on the announced matches and the idea ofJohn Cena burying Jimmy Uso on the road to WWE FastLane 2023.
WWE SmackDown is scheduled to take place on September 8, 2023, live on FOX, and John Cena will bury Jimmy Uso en route to WWE FastLane 2023.
AJ Styles vs. Jimmy Uso [Grudge Match]
AJ Styles will defeat Jimmy Uso as revenge for the distraction by Jimmy Uso in his match against Solo Sikoa last week in the main event of SmackDown. However, Styles won’t do it alone, as he will receive his assistance from a man who he has plenty of history with, John Cena. As noted above, Cena did deliver an Attitude Adjustment to Jimmy Uso last week on SmackDown in what could be a gradual build to a future tag team match featuring: John Cena and AJ Styles vs. Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso. Sometimes, a little Teddy Long booking makes all the sense in the world.
Prediction: AJ Styles
Charlotte Flair & Shotzi Blackheart vs. Damage Control [Tag Match]
Speaking of Teddy Long booking, here’s another tag team match that’s worth a “holla.” Charlotte Flair and Shotzi Blackheart will defeat Damage Control because this tag match is a booking methodology utilized as a conduit to give babyfaces momentum for a future title opportunity. Although Damage Control is the legitimate team, Bayley will eat the pinfall to protect the champ, Iyo Sky, in defeat. It looks like Shotzi is getting the first shot after defeating Bayley as revenge for cutting her hair. Charlotte will be saved for later once WWE is ready for Iyo Sky to lose the title.
Prediction: Charlotte Flair & Shotzi Blackheart
