ROH: An “egoless” Ethan Page is trying to find himself

Since his feud with Matt Hardy, Ethan Page has been a little directionless. He’s still employed by Hardy (I think?) and has been accompanying The Hardys to the ring along with Brother Zay. His last match came in August when he and Zay faced then-ROH World Tag Team Champions Aussie Open. They were unsuccessful in their opportunity at the titles.

On episode 29 of ROH, Page spoke with Lexy Nair. He told her that this was the “perfect place for me right now.” He explained that his ego has been front and center. He believes he has lost his competitive edge due to not wrestling that often.

“I was only signing on for marquee matches. Title matches. And I was chasing the money and I need to get back to the root of competition. And truly Ring of Honor has always been just that. I just don’t know who I am anymore, but the thing about Ethan Page; I definitely know what I’m capable of. So I’m here in Ring of Honor to prove it to the people, but more importantly, to prove it to myself.”

Later in the show, Page faced Griff Garrison. Garrison just returned to action a few weeks ago. He’s being recruited by Maria Kanellis-Bennett to join The Kingdom. She has already recruited Cole Karter and is trying to add Leyla Hirsch.

Garrison put up a good fight, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the veteran Page. Page showed Garrison a little bit of what he’s capable of and put the rest of the locker room on notice.

Next. 3 people that could dethrone MJF. dark

Having Page in ROH is a good idea. He often gets overlooked in AEW, even with five hours of programming. AEW fans have seen what he’s capable of in the ring and on the mic. He had a fantastic match against MJF for the AEW World Championship on the third episode of CollisionIf they aren’t going to utilize him more on TV, then he should be in ROH.

ROH is not a downgrade. ROH is its own brand with a long history. It was built on the backs of people like Page. Page is someone who should be in the title picture soon. He is a threat to multiple champions. He could be the one to finally end Samoa Joe’s streak as the second-longest reigning Television champion. If Claudio Castagnoli is successful against Eddie Kingston and retains the World Championship and wins the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship, Page could be in contention for either title.

It remains to be seen if Page remains egoless, as Nair referred to him. Either way, he’s someone to watch in ROH.
