Jade Cargill has officially signed with WWE as reported by ESPN. This is a big moment as WWE is throwing its full power behind her arrival.

The Jade Cargill to WWE saga has culminated with the official report that she signed with the company on Tuesday. ESPN reported the news that was long speculated starting with Fightful Select’s report. She’s the second big name to make the jump from AEW to WWE and fans are interested in how things will play out. So far, the presentation and reporting of the news show that WWE is preparing for a major star to join the roster.

“WWE today announced it has signed Jade Cargill to a multi-year contract. The news was first reported by ESPN,” WWE announced via an official statement. “Cargill, a standout performer who has earned accolades as an industry-renowned talent, will begin training today at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.”

It’s rare that WWE offers a public statement such as that when the company picks up a free agent. But Cargill isn’t just another free agent. She’s coming off a 508-day run as AEW TBS Champion, but that isn’t the accolade that is going to push Cargill into stardom.

For much of her run, AEW presented Cargill as a superstar. Her run in the division was seen as dominant, even though there were struggles at the end. AEW did all that it could within the strength of its platform to push Cargill as a massive star with the potential to reach beyond professional wrestling. That is where signing with WWE comes into play.

Being a part of the WWE roster currently puts Cargill directly in line with some of the most powerful aspects of the entertainment industry via Endeavor. The parent company of WWE and UFC has entry points into all things entertainment and if that is Cargill’s endgame, this is the company that can help her get there. WWE has found a way to benefit when its top stars cross over into other avenues and Cargill has the potential to be as big of a star as any of the other women to walk through the doors.

This is an exciting time in professional wrestling. The new wrinkle of free agency with stars moving between AEW and WWE helps build excitement as names move into new phases of their career. Jade Cargill has made the leap and it looks like WWE is preparing to put its full marketing and promotion muscle behind her.
