Adam Copeland is in All Elite Wrestling and there are several big matches that await the multiple-time champion.

AEW is now Rated-R. Adam Copeland, formerly known as the Hall-of-Famer Edge, made his debut at WrestleDream and it was one of the biggest moments in a packed wrestling weekend. He’s set to make his debut on weekly television on the October 4 edition of AEW Dynamite. Surely, this will be the moment that he kicks off his first big angle in this new promotion. Where does it go? Of course, there will be stare-downs with old friends, but AEW presents an opportunity for big matches with new faces. Looking at the AEW roster, here are three big matches that await Adam Copeland.

Kenny Omega

This right here is clearly for pro wrestling fans. This is a dream match. No story is necessary. Just like Bryan Danielson and Kenny Omega tore down the house back in 2021, Copeland versus Omega would not need a three-month build. It would not need a series of swerves and hot takes. Just announce the match that perhaps the best wrestler of this generation will take on one of the top names of a previous generation and fans will be invested.

Yes, there is an opportunity to build some type of angle between the two. Seeing how they are both from Canada, professional wrestling can certainly latch on to that fact as the industry typically does. It would be interesting to see if a deeper story involving Christian Cage and The Elite could come to pass. Adam has spent the majority of his return to wrestling as a babyface, but it was his time as a slimy heel that pushed him to superstardom. The Judgement Day run immediately fell short of that, and AEW is the land where he can become that hated heel once again. If it involved a big match with Kenny Omega along the way, everyone wins.

MJF

Adam Copeland is another individual that MJF would work well with. The current AEW World Champion has told how much he loved WWE growing up. One of the biggest figures during that time was Edge and that would be the central point bringing them together. This is one pairing where the story would be the heaviest aspect of the angle, as both Copeland and MJF do an excellent job providing the “why” behind everything they do. One big question to ask is whether AEW is going to continue to elevate former WWE champions right into the title picture. That’s a challenge that some fans and detractors continue to point out.

Still, a pairing of MJF versus Adam Copeland is an angle that would get fans engrossed in the story and the eventual matchup.

Christian Cage

Come on. This is the easiest layup that AEW can do. Christian Cage is in the middle of perhaps his best run in professional wrestling and fans love to hate him. He’s the guy that you want to punch in the face, but you know he’s going to entertain you with every second he’s on the camera. Christian and Adam have done great work over the decades and it will be interesting to see what they can do together. If this match is properly built, with the storytelling layers ready to explore, this can be a non-title match that main events a PPV.

What’s important about this story is that it involves multiple people. Adam versus Christian has the potential to have a positive impact on Nick Wayne and Darby Allin – two individuals that AEW is building for the future of the company. Pitting them in angles along with two of the most important wrestlers of a previous generation is a positive step for their careers. They will learn a lot and are certainly looking forward to the experience.

Plus, there’s the opportunity that this is all a ploy, and Adam is truly here to help Christian Cage, thus reforming one of the top tag teams in wrestling history. The possibilities are great and there’s an opportunity for some fantastic storytelling at the highest levels.
