LA Knight has no shot at beating Roman Reigns at WWE Crown Jewel

Fans will be excited to watch LA Knight versus Roman Reigns at WWE Crown Jewel, but there’s no way the former will come out with a victory.

WWE announced a big match for the upcoming edition of Crown Jewel as LA Knight will challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. This is a massive ordeal as Knight is a surging star in the WWE Universe and Crown Jewel is being booked as an important event in the PLE schedule. But fans need to prepare themselves now. There’s no way that Knight is going to defeat Reigns at this point in his run.

Predictability has a place in professional wrestling. The smart fans who dive into every tidbit of the industry can put together strong guesses of what is coming and when. That doesn’t stop from those moments being just as important. Fans knew Kofi Kingston was going to defeat Bryan Danielson, but that didn’t stop the support and celebration that was KofiMania. The same could be said about “Hangman” Adam Page defeating Kenny Omega at Full Gear. Fans knew it was coming but that did not stop them one bit from showing up for their favorite anxious cowboy.

But that’s not going to happen in Saudi Arabia.

Fans still debate whether Cody Rhodes should have defeated Roman Reigns back at WrestleMania 39. Reigns picked up the convoluted victory and many wondered if Rhodes would cool off in the following months. That hasn’t been the case, as he’s still over with the fans and an important part of the roster. The build has continued to present him as the man who will finally put an end to Reigns’s run as champion. Going another direction at this time would be a massive surprise, the type that WWE has hesitated to give fans for years.

Yes, LA Knight is beloved. He’s burst onto the scene in a way that is almost unbelievable to see the Eli Drake of the past be a central figure in all things WWE. Fans want to see him in the title picture. Many expected he’d pick up the Money in the Bank briefcase, but that went to Damian Priest. He also failed to pick up the United States Championship. But that isn’t going to be enough to push him over the top and be the man to take this belt off Roman and end his historic reign.

Could you imagine the shock on WWE fans’ faces if Knight picked up the win? Especially after individuals like Rhodes, Sami Zayn, and Jey Uso fell to the Tribal Chief. All those individuals had impactful stories that went beyond the title with Reigns and WWE did not pull the trigger. It is difficult to think of them doing so in an angle with LA Knight that has run less than a month. Being hopeful is one thing but avoid being delusional.

Surprise moments happen in pro wrestling and are just as important as the moments that fans can predict. Everyone should take a moment to set it in their minds that LA Knight isn’t going to defeat Roman Reigns. Perhaps there’s a chance to do something interesting in a long-term angle, but that title is staying around the Tribal Chief’s waist through WrestleMania 40 at the very least.

Next. WWE should develop a women's mid-card championship. dark
