ROH: Eddie Kingston suspended by Stokely Hathaway

Several weeks ago, Eddie Kingston told Sonjay Dutt and Jeff Jarrett that Jay Lethal would have to prove himself in order to get a shot at the ROH World Championship. Two weeks ago, Lethal approached Kingston backstage in AEW to demand a title shot based on his career accolades.

ROH board member, Stokely Hathaway made a match for a Memphis Street Fight on Collision between Jarrett and Kingston. A victory from Jarrett secured a title match for Lethal. Hathaway accepted on the champ’s behalf. Kingston grabbed the mic and pushed Hathaway back and he somehow ended up in the wall.

On Thursday’s episode of ROH, Hathaway began the show with a pre-taped statement. Due to Kingston’s “audacity and temerity” of getting physical, he temporarily suspended “The Mad King”. Not only did he suspend him from Honor Club, but from Rampage as well. He said that he feared for his life as Kingston was also telling the locker room he was going to “beat my (expletive).”

Later in the episode, there was backstage segment with Dutt. He recalled meeting Lethal and Kingston at the same time and noted that they were polar opposites. He referred to Lethal as a pure wrestler, but said Kingston is “a garbage wrestler.” He said that the double champion has no honor.

Hathaway walked up to let Dutt know that he agreed about Kingston having no honor. He put over the Memphis Street Fight. As he began to walk away, Dutt grabbed Hathaway by the back of his shirt to ask when Lethal would be getting his title shot. Hathaway dodged the question by saying he had to talk to his secretary and would have her email him a date.

As we move closer to Final Battle, it seems the match will most likely take place then. Lethal isn’t the only one that’s been targeting Kingston for a title shot. Last week on Rampage, Mark Briscoe returned. Prior to his injury, he was set to face then World Champion, Claudio Castagnoli, for the title at Death Before Dishonor. Kingston was the one that suggested that Briscoe challenge Castagnoli because he felt he didn’t deserve the championship. While Briscoe’s dream has always been to be ROH Television Champion, he may still want an opportunity for Kingston’s title.

Next. Jeff Jarrett isn't going anywhere. dark
