The AEW Continental Classic is already the most important tournament in North American wrestling. As the end of the tournament inches closer at AEW World’s End on December 27, the brackets continue to flesh out. There are interesting, but familiar names near the top of both the Blue and the Gold Leagues. Here are the latest standings for the 2025 AEW Continental Classic.
Konosuke Takeshita reigns atop the Blue League
The Blue League was an interesting draw because it featured Claudio Castagnoli and Jon Moxley. Fans were surprised to see them go against each other early in the draw, with Castagnoli picking up the win. However, they are both sitting behind Konosuke Takeshita who is coming off his win in the latest G1 Climax, and his big victory to take the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
Takeshita holding the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship makes him an easy guess to win his bracket. New Japan wouldn’t agree to have their championship in this tournament, just to see him lose before the finals. If he is going to lose. With seven points as of this writing, Takeshita sits firmly in the top spot and should be the favorite to make it out.
PAC is standing atop the Gold League…for now
PAC being involved in the 2025 CC was an easy call. He’s perhaps the most talented man on the roster to never hold the AEW World Championship. And he may never reach that point. But this is about the tournament, where he’s currently leading the Gold League with six points. While there are multiple performers with six points, PAC has a 2-1 record compared to everyone else with 2 losses, giving him the top spot.
But, will he be able to hold onto that position? Kyle Fletcher and Kazuchika Okada are both in this group. Fletcher has made it to the finals in the past and Okada has won the entire thing. Looking across the board, a Konosuke Takeshite versus Kazuchika Okada final would be a huge match for AEW World’s End
The Continental Classic is a fun time for wrestling. The men are doing a great job putting on some excellent matches, and there are more calls for the women to get their own tournament. As the final draws closer, expect more amazing matches and two men to stand out in the end to put on a stellar final at the upcoming PPV.
