3 big WWE predictions for 2025

2025 has started and the action has come out hot in WWE. Tiffany Stratton cashed in the Money in the Bank briefcase on the first episode of SmackDown, getting a surprise win over Nia Jax. If that sets the tone for the year, there’s a lot that will go down. Looking ahead to the next 12 months, here are three big predictions for WWE in 2025.

Cody Rhodes heel turn begins

Cody Rhodes remains the focal point of all things WWE. Since defeating Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40, he’s taken the moniker of the “face of the company” to all new levels. Rhodes is kissing all the babies and shaking all the hands, giving his best impersonation of a political candidate on the campaign trail. Things are going to remain good as long as he’s the WWE Undisputed Champion. However, the minute he loses that championship, the Homelander in Cody Rhodes is going to come out. Fans may love the babyface version of the American Nightmare but just wait until he gets to stretch his wings as the top villain in the company.

John Cena’s 17th World Championship

John Cena and Ric Flair are tied atop the list for the most WWE Championship reigns. Cena’s hanging up the jorts in 2025, and with that should come one last run as a champion. How will it play out? Gunther versus Cena at WrestleMania 41 is a huge match that could main event the first night of the PPV. Gunther has all the cache as a top heel and is one of the most important wrestlers in the game today. He wouldn’t be hurt in losing the title to Cena and it would be interesting to see what a story between the two would look like if they get the opportunity to stand in the spotlight.

New Women’s Champions will rise

Stratton just defeated Nia Jax for her first main roster title. Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan are locked in battle for the WWE Women’s World Championship. However, neither of them will end 2025 with that title. Instead, this will be the year when new names rise to the top of the roster, joining Stratton as first-time champions on the main roster. Look for someone like Roxanne Perez to make her move from WWE NXT and capture a title on Monday Night Raw before the year is over.
