John Cena will win the 2025 Royal Rumble
2025 is going to be a big year in professional wrestling. Why? Because John Cena is set to retire. One of the most important figures in recent wrestling history has made it clear that he plans to hang up the jorts once next year ends. With that on the horizon, fans speculate where Cena will land on the stacked WWE roster. The first big test will be the Royal Rumble and John Cena is the perfect person to win the match.
John Cena’s retirement is going to be the biggest story of 2025. It comes at the right time. Cena is creeping up there in age. His list of commitments outside of wrestling is steadily growing and becoming higher profile each year. There isn’t much left for him to achieve in the space. At least, there’s one thing and that is what makes his retirement tour so interesting.
John Cena has the opportunity to surpass Ric Flair for the most title reigns recognized by WWE. As of this piece, both men sit at 16 title reigns, quite a feat. Flair has long been a controversial figure in professional wrestling. Even more so as additional allegations about him have come out. Wrestling hasn’t done the greatest job of distancing itself from “The Nature Boy,” but one way WWE could do so would be to see Cena pass him in total championships. Winning the Royal Rumble would be the first step to getting there.
When Cena announced his retirement, he confirmed that he would take part in the Royal Rumble. The minute his music hits, fans both young and old will be invested in seeing him win the whole thing. Looking at the men’s roster, only one other name is close in the conversation to win the whole thing and that is CM Punk. Imagine the stage being Punk and Cena as the last two in the match, with Cena finding a way to come out on top. It would be the right way to kick off the “Year of Cena,” especially since he hasn’t won a match in years. He should be paired against GUNTHER at WrestleMania, but that’s another build all within itself.
2025 is going to be a year of joy and tears. John Cena is hanging it up. He was once one of the most hated men in the business. And over time, everyone has come to love and even miss him as a part of WWE. As he steps into his last year, fans should expect him to win the Royal Rumble because that would kick things off perfectly in what should be a title-winning escapade.
