3 matches for Oba Femi on the WWE main roster
Oba Femi was defeated again by Tony D’Angelo at WWE NXT Halloween Havoc. The longest reigning NXT North American Champion was unable to regain that title, and now there are questions about what’s next for “The Ruler.” Speculation swarmed online that he is heading for the main roster, which is where more believe he’d be a quick attraction for the company. Looking at what both SmackDown and Monday Night Raw have to offer, here are three important matches for Oba Femi on the main roster.
Damian Priest
There are questions about whether WWE sees Damian Priest as a “transitional champion” or someone who has the potential to regain the belt for multiple stints. The verdict on that is still out, and he needs important feuds to provide the answer. Imagine if Priest were attacked by Oba Femi at some point in the coming weeks, kicking off what would be a big feud for both men. Priest is rarely the smaller man in any confrontation, as would be the case here. For Femi, he’d be thrown right into the proverbial fire to see if he could hang with one of the better-protected performers on the main roster.
GUNTHER
Ok, so Oba Femi versus GUNTHER is nothing more than a dream meat match. These two big men pummeling each other in the middle of the ring would certainly get people watching. Is Femi ready for such a spotlight? No. Would Gunther lose the WWE World Heavyweight Championship to him? No. This is nothing more than a fun battle, pitting one of the most interesting attractions in WWE NXT against the most important performer on the Monday Night Raw roster, just to see what happens.
Giovanni Vinci
Giovanni Vinci is in a peculiar place on the WWE roster. The former Fabian Aichner hasn’t had the best booking since joining his Imperium brothers on the main roster. He was kicked out of the group, sent over to SmackDown where he sat off television for weeks, just to return to television and enter a comical losing streak gimmick. It’s almost like he has made someone in creative upset and is openly punished for it. If WWE wanted to get some additional mileage out of his place, booking him to start a winning streak, just to get overconfident and end up facing the debuting Oba Femi who would snap it would be a great way to bring Femi up to SmackDown.
Oba Femi has the potential to be a force for WWE. If he is booked properly in the long term, he can become one of those key players that fans are looking for and begging the WWE to create sooner, rather than later.
