Video games and professional wrestling are close cousins. Fans of wrestling are frequently fans of video games, with many still debating about what wrestling video game is the best of all time. Those fans were hit with a huge blow as news broke on Thursday that Grand Theft Auto is once again delayed, moving to November 2026. With a year to wait until that game gets into the hands of gamers, here are three things those fans can look forward to seeing in professional wrestling.

Cody Rhodes will turn heel

Cody Rhodes stands tall as the top face in WWE. Since returning to the company in 2022, his story has been the central focus of much of the programming across the main roster. That has delivered in some ways, creating the masterpiece of sports entertainment that was the main event at WrestleMania 40. It hasn’t all been highs though, as the John Cena storyline started to push fans away from Rhodes as the top name.

A Cody Rhodes heel turn at some point in 2026 has the potential to be a great story. Imagine him facing off against someone like LA Knight with the title on the line. Rhodes plays a great babyface, but he also plays a great heel and WWE fans will soon experience that side his character.

Mercedes Mone will lose all her titles, turn babyface, and win the AEW Women’s World Championship

Mercedes Mone is telling an interesting story in AEW. No, it’s not that she’s booking her own run to capture all the titles in the world. She and Athena just failed to capture the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship. Mone is going to fail again to capture the AEW Women’s World Championship. After failing twice, she’s going to spiral and lose all of the titles she’s captured along the way, causing her to grow through a real crisis.

Along the way, fans will begin to side with her as she tries to right the ship. That ship will be set on the right course when she finally succeeds in capturing that coveted title at some point in 2026.

A Black man will win a singles title on WWE main roster

Now, this one is the long shot. Think about it. Triple H booking a Black man to win a singles title? That’s a long shot. It has been three years since a Black man has held a singles title on the main roster. Ricochet and Bobby Lashley both held titles in 2022, and ironically, neither man is with the company any longer. Fans are looking at performers like Trick Williams and Oba Femi as the names who can break this streak but concerns about Carmelo Hayes’ main roster run is starting to give them pause. Will it happen before Grand Theft Auto 6 comes out? That’s a bet that is tough to take.
