5 roster changes during the WWE Transfer Window
In years past, the WWE Draft has been one of the most controversial annual occurrences in the WWE. Thanks to a lack of care within the Vince McMahon creative department, the draft rarely amounted to anything of substance. Things are changing under Triple H, and the introduction of the “transfer window” is an interesting wrinkle to roster changes. On the December 6 episode of SmackDown, it was announced that the transfer window would involve all three brands with stars being able to move between the shows. Looking at who is available, here are five moves that must happen when the window opens.
Lash Legend & Jakara Jackson to the main roster
Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson must be main roster bound. They’ve been consistently featured on both SmackDown and Monday Night Raw, almost outgrowing their place on WWE NXT. While Legend has received more opportunities on the shows, both she and Jackson would benefit from the move. Putting them both on Monday Night Raw would boost that division which needs more names, while giving the tag team division another team capable of holding those titles.
Finn Balor to SmackDown
Finn Balor is further isolating himself from The Judgment Day. While “Win with Finn” is a catchy phrase, it’s not how things are going to play out for the faction. He’s not going to defeat GUNTHER, with or without Damian Priest’s involvement. And when the other members of the group find themselves losing as well, the blame will hit the one acting like the leader. Moving Balor to SmackDown would give the show a top-level heel and perhaps give him the fresh look that can lead to the championship run everyone has longed to see.
Pure Fusion Collective to WWE NXT
Horrible name aside, it’s clear that WWE doesn’t have any long-term plans in mind for Pure Fusion Collective. Moving the group to WWE NXT could create some interesting opportunities, as they would be inserted into the best-booked women’s division in wrestling. Think about Shayna Baszler standing across from the likes of Roxanne Perez, Giulia, or Stephanie Vaquer. Zoey Stark getting a run as the WWE NXT Women’s North American Champion. Sonya Deville giving Ava hell as the General Manager. PFC in NXT would be a nice change as names in the women’s division move around.
LA Knight to Monday Night Raw
LA Knight losing the WWE United States Championship was a shocking move at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames. Shinsuke Nakamura hasn’t been booked well for years, so to see him defeat Knight raised questions about the latter’s position on the roster. He’s still over with the fans, and a change of scenery could do him well. Imagine Knight as a top contender to Gunther’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship. That’s a feud that would garner attention from fans.
The Street Profits (With B-Fab) to WWE NXT
Montez Ford, Angelo Dawkins, and B-Fab need something different. They’ve remained in tag team purgatory on SmackDown for years, with fans hoping to see something change in their trajectory. Even a split just for a split’s sake wouldn’t help much at this time. Moving them back to WWE NXT, giving them a run as NXT Tag Team Champions, and then splitting the duo up would create some intrigue, especially in Montez Ford as a hell persona. He could be booked as NXT Champion, giving him a new look before returning to the main roster under a new persona. Dawkins has credibility as a mid-card singles performer, and that could be built there as well before giving him something new.
