There’s a lot of excitement around All Elite Wrestling heading into July. With All In 2025 set for July 12, this is looking to be one of the biggest PPVs in the company’s history. That’s quite the statement as the promotion has been on quite the run with excellent PPVs so far into 2025. Here are some of the latest news and rumors for AEW heading into what will be a big week of action with AEW Grand Slam: Mexico and more.
Hikaru Shida gives update on status
Three-time AEW Women’s World Champion, Hikaru Shida remains off television heading into a major swing of things for the company. Talking on her YouTube channel, Shida gave an update on her status as she’s still in Japan working on her visa issue. During her stream she answered a question from a viewer about her status.
“AEW has so many wrestlers, so they lawyer has to do so many things,” she said.
Shida was last seen in AEW back in November when she was defeated by Kris Statlander on AEW Dynamite. She’s remained active while in Japan, competing in various shows for other companies. She last performed in a four on three handicap match for Gokigen Pro Hataage on May 28.
Komander suffers “significant” knee injury
Former Ring of Honor World Television Champion, Komander, is not cleared for action as he is out dealing with a knee injury. According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Komander was injured during a show in Oaxaca, Mexico. He slipped on the ropes while attempting his Fosbury Flop move and injured his knee.
Komander was supposed to team with Kevin Knight and “Speedball” Mike Bailey on AEW Dynamite, but he was shown on air being attacked by MJF in a move to write him off the show. He was then replaced by Mascara Dorada in a losing effort on that show. There’s no timetable for his return to action, nor have the specifics of the injury been revealed.
The Young Bucks versus Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland planned for All In 2025
If it wasn’t any clearer after AEW Dynamite, the planned direction is for Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland to team together to take on The Young Bucks at All In 2025. The Bucks were about to hit Stickland with a double-superkick with tack laced shoes, but Ospreay jumped in, taking the blow for his friend/opponent. Fightful Select reported that is the planned direction for the four man, setting up a huge match at the upcoming PPV.
“Sources familiar with each talent said that a tag team match involving the Young Bucks versus Swerve Strickland was on the table for quite some time,” Fightful reported. “However, due to the creative of Hangman Page versus Will Ospreay being kept close to the vest, we heard that Ospreay’s creative end of things were firmed up after AEW Double or Nothing.”
This is a big match for a big PPV, and one that will bring Page and Strickland one step closer to smoothing things over after their violent past interactions.
