All Elite Wrestling is riding a wave of momentum. AEW Dynamite Grand Slam Mexico was a huge success, and one of the biggest talking points coming out of the week. There are a few weeks before AEW All In, but that hasn’t stopped AEW when it comes to telling and developing interesting stories along the way. Here’s a look at three rumors worth watching heading into the week.
Mercedes Mone versus Toni Storm was always the plan
There’s been a lot of back and forth about the plan for Mercedes Mone versus Toni Storm at All In. Initially, there were reports that Mone versus Storm was the plan after things changed between Mariah May and AEW. May is now known as Blake Monroe in WWE NXT, and reports are that when she informed AEW of her plan to depart, the shift was made to book Mone versus Storm at All In. Prior to this, thoughts were that Mone would take on ATHENA at this show, putting another huge women’s match on the card.
However, reports have come out stating the opposite, that Mone versus Storm was the plan as far back as 2024. Currently, Athena does not have a storyline heading into All In and she has not been involved on Dynamite or Collision since the Owen Hart Tournament. As of this writing, Toni Storm versus Mercedes Mone is the only women’s match booked for the card. Since it involves both championships, it will be interesting to see if Athena and the ROH Women’s World Championship will be booked on the show to create another featured women’s title match.
Bryan Danielson appeared during ROH Global Wars
Former AEW World Champion Bryan Danielson made a surprise appearance during Ring of Honor Global Wars. He popped up to help Blue Pather, causing speculation about his in-ring status. Danielson’s time as a full-time talent has come to an end, being written off television when Jon Moxley turned on him and eventually took the title. At some point, Danielson is expected to return, but only in a part-time capacity. As of this writing, there is no clear plan on whether he will return, rather than when in the future.
Britt Baker’s AEW status
Britt Baker was one of the most popular performers on the AEW roster. However, that is no longer the case, as she’s become somewhat of a forgotten part of the company’s roster. She last appeared back in November 2024, picking up a win over Penelope Ford. She has not been used or mentioned since then, reportedly off the air due to injuries.
Fightful Select reported that Baker is still with AEW, debunking rumors that she was headed to WWE. According to that report, Baker signed a five-year contract in late 2021, which would keep her in the company until 2026, with the potential of injury time being added as well.
