Elimination Chamber: Toronto is right around the corner. This is the final stop before WrestleMania 41, and when the show is done the top contenders will be set. The women’s chamber match features six important names in the division; five women with legions of fans and a newcomer who has the potential to be the foundation of the division for decades to come. Yet only one person feels like a legit contender and that’s simply based on how WWE books her to date. Bianca Belair stands out as the favorite to win the Elimination Chamber and that shines a light on the issues surrounding the booking of the women’s division.
Bianca Belair is a superstar. For eight years she’s been a part of the WWE system and she stands out as one of the main examples of how their training formula can work. The fans took to Belair as a top star when she was in NXT, and that momentum carried her to the top of the women’s division on the main roster.
WWE does an excellent job protecting Belair. Look no further to her win-loss record as a singles performer. According to Cagematch, Belair has only lost 9 singles matches since 2022. That’s a strong indication that WWE wants to keep her as a big threat at all times. A potential reason is that Belair is seen as the only one who is a true threat to WWE’s other big player in the division, Rhea Ripley.
Bianca Belair versus Rhea Ripley will happen, just not right now
Belair versus Ripley does have major implications. WWE teases it every time the two women are on screen together. But this is an angle that deserves long-term build, implications, and investment. Not one that would feel rushed in the weeks between Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 41. Look at how WWE is carefully crafting all the angles at the top of the men’s division. This is the type of care that an angle between Belair and Ripley deserves and needs.
On top of that, Bianca Belair’s current trajectory needs to revolve around a potential angle between her, Naomi, and Jade Cargill. There’s a huge story there that would keep all three out of the title picture for a bit while telling an engrossing angle that fans would love. WWE must take the time to build that story that would elevate all three women.
Bianca Belair versus the rest of the field in the Elimination Chamber
Why is Belair the only real option in the women’s chamber match? Look no further than how the rest of the division is booked.
Liv Morgan is coming off a year in which she held the WWE Women’s World Championship for 226 days. Fans have long wanted to see Morgan get her time in the spotlight, but even as champion she was booked as a secondary character to Ripley. She never felt like a threat to beat Ripley and fans knew the moment a one-on-one match was set that title was going back around Ripley’s waist.
This was the same issue with Morgan’s booking when she was facing Ronda Rousey. WWE sees her as a secondary character and books her as such.
Bayley is in a similar situation, even though she’s crawling her way out of it. Bayley is a pillar of the women’s division. She’s one that WWE can place in any angle on any brand and she will thrive. She recently played in the celebrity game during the NBA All-Star Weekend. She has star power.
Yet, she’s coming off a WrestleMania moment of her own and a less-than-stellar title run. Again, because of the way the division was booked. Going back to her for WrestleMania 41 isn’t the right call. Especially when it looks like she’s the one to help build Roxanne Perez.
That takes the conversation to Perez. WWE is setting the stage for her to be a star for years to come. She was the Iron Woman at the 2025 Royal Rumble after having a strong run as NXT Women’s Champion. Putting her in this match was the right decision and she’s going to stand out. But it’s too early to see her win and build a WrestleMania around her challenging Ripley. Would it be a great surprise? Yes, but WWE doesn’t do surprises of this kind.
Naomi has never been featured as the top star, even though she has a championship run on her resume as well. It will be interesting to see if WWE takes this moment to build on the story between her and Belair as tag champs who are destined to split in some way. Still, she’s not going to win this match because she doesn’t have any direct interaction with Ripley.
Then there’s Alexa Bliss. Bliss’s return at the Royal Rumble was one of the major moments of the year so far. Fan reaction was huge and that momentum has continued, even though her booking hasn’t been impactful in the weeks that followed. Bliss is another performer who stands out as an example of WWE’s system working for its goals. But she hasn’t been at the superstar level since the Bray Wyatt booking which honestly didn’t help anyone.
The frustration around the booking of the WWE women’s division is real and cannot be ignored. With WrestleMania 41 on the horizon, it is clear that fans and the women on the roster want better for everyone involved. Bianca Belair stands out as the top name in the Elimination Chamber and it’s sad that none of the others involved feel like threats to win the match.
