WWE Monday Night Raw has made the shift to Netflix. The biggest weekly wrestling program in the industry featured several of its top stars on what some may see as the most important episode of its 30+ year history. One of those stars was Liv Morgan. Morgan, in the midst of her second title reign, is a controversial figure of sorts. None of which is by her own doing. With or without the championship, Morgan is a star who fans hope to see finally get the position many feel she truly deserves at the top of the women’s roster.

As of this writing, Morgan is 227 days into her run as WWE Women’s World Champion. Morgan has a loud and strong fanbase who want to see her as champion. Has she been booked as a strong champion? That’s where the debates begin to splinter. Since winning the title, she’s defended it five times. Compare that to Nia Jax who held her recent Women’s Championship for 157 days and defended the title the same number of times (including Tiffany Stratton’s surprise cash-in).

The biggest rumblings are around WWE’s lackadaisical booking in building adequate challengers for Morgan. It was clear to anyone watching the product that beyond Rhea Ripley, there were no plans for anyone else to be a threat to Morgan’s title reign. Even with a potential three-way story between her, Ripley, and Raquel Rodriguez, WWE Creative kept tunnel vision on one person and one person only. That mistake on the company’s part has hindered Morgan’s true potential as champion, much like was the mistake when she cashed-in her Money in the Bank briefcase to defeat Ronda Rousey back in 2022.

Over the years, several superstars received online support in some form of “you deserve it” campaigns. There was even one for Morgan back in 2024 which was meant to see her slotted into the title picture heading into WrestleMania 40. While that effort may have seemed misinformed, it will be interesting to see what the perception of this run will be for Morgan when it comes to an end. It will be equally important to see where she is slotted on the card.

Liv Morgan has stepped up several times when WWE needed her to fill in a void at the top of the card. However, when that need dissipates, she’s immediately pushed back down to a B-tier position, and that can only happen so many times before she loses credibility as a main-event performer. WWE intends to continue Rhea Ripley’s ascension as the face of women’s professional wrestling. But will that come at the cost of creating another credible superstar in Liv Morgan along the way?
