For whatever reason, WWE decided that Saturday Night's Main Event could host John Cena's retirement but not Bron Breakker winning the World Heavyweight Championship.
Instead, the WWE Universe gets to see Jey Uso challenge CM Punk for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship. Even though Breakker and Bronson Reed just turned on Seth Rollins and were poised for the main event scene, Triple H had Uso win the battle royal.
Bron Breakker Destined To Win The Title At WrestleMania 42
Bron Breakker is expected to be World Heavyweight Champion but WWE reportedly has a plan in place for how they want to execute it.

At this point, the only reason for any of this to make sense would be for Breakker to win the title at WrestleMania. In order to do so, he'd likely have to win the Royal Rumble or Elimination Chamber. Either would be great, but Breakker eliminating Reed at the end of the Rumble could be quite the decision.
It's hard to imagine a scenario where Punk doesn't leave Salt Lake City as World Champion, though HHH loves Uso, so it's far from impossible. A Punk vs. Breakker Mania match makes much more sense and is the perfect continuation to the never ending Punk vs. Rollins feud.
It was reported that Breakker and Reed were removed from the battle royal so they didn't look weak, a decision that is completely justifiable. Paul Heyman's dymamic duo needs something to do until WrestleMania season, so them dethroning AJ Styles and Dragon Lee would be ideal.
Buying Time Until WrestleMania
WWE has a hard time striking while the iron is hot. John Cena is retiring on Saturday Night's Main Event, so what's the point in waiting another five or so months before putting the title on Breakker? There's a large chance he's still as over and remains in the main event scene, but that's clearly a risk HHH is willing to take.
While it's unclear where Reed would fit into that entire situation, having Breakker and Reed win the tag titles would be the perfect way to fill time. They don't need to be tag team champions forever, and they can lose them in a multi-team match to keep them strong, but it would add another title to their credit and keep them as mainstays on television.
Roman Reigns vs. Bron Breakker would be a stellar WrestleMania match, but how would WWE get the title on Reigns? He could challenge Punk around the Royal Rumble, but that's a show where the World Title seemingly never changes hands. A triple threat would be silly, but Reigns vs. Breakker is certainly worth taking a look at instead of Punk vs. Breakker.
