The March 10 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw featured a hilarious segment when a masked performer jumped the barricade and attacked Rey Mysterio during the match between the LWO and The New Day. It was clearly Chad Gable showing off some luchador-like abilities. While fans cackled at that moment, it is yet another example that Chad Gable is a performer who has all the abilities to carry a singles title in the company.

Chad Gable can do it all. He can play the underdog fighting out from underneath an overwhelming force. He can play the dastardly heel, looking to get over at any opportunity. He can even play the comedy guy, as he’s shown several times during his run.

Gable is a four-time tag team champion during his ten years with the promotion. Along the way, he’s been a part of some classic matches, but it is time to leverage this talent as a champion on his own. Gable knows that he’s ready to do just that.

“I’m entertaining the idea if I’m going to put ‘win a singles title’ on my goals for 2025 because it’s not in my hands,” Gable said in February to Jay Ferruggia on the Jay Ferruggia Show. “I will be very disappointed if I don’t deliver. I know I’m ready. I can carry a title.”

The WWE Intercontinental Championship was made for a guy like Chad Gable. Many still believe he was the man who should have defeated GUNTHER at WrestleMania 40 instead of Sami Zayn. The WWE Universe was firmly behind Gable in the run-up to that match, but WWE had different plans. That’s a phrase that’s come up a lot across hundreds of performers throughout the years. It doesn’t matter who fans are truly behind. Instead, the company slots them where they see them, and it doesn’t look like WWE sees Gable as a singles champion.

2025 is far from over, so perhaps things can change to see Chad Gable find his way to a championship. Fans are hoping to see it happen, as he’s one of the best performers across the WWE brand on a week-to-week basis. Gable deserves a run as a singles champion in WWE.
