Chelsea Green is an example of what makes sports entertainment excellent. There's a reason why so many celebrated her initial win to become the inaugural WWE Women's United States Champion. Now, months later, she has that title once again and while it came at the unfortunate cost to Giulia, Chelsea Green is someone who deserves this moment and even more within the WWE.
Listen, Chelsea Green is a gift that keeps on giving. Whether she's in front of a camera during the show, or an interview microphone, Green has mastered the ability of maximizing every second that she gets. She has the comedic timing of a professional trained actor, and she delivers with her physical comedy as well. There aren't a lot of examples of women in wrestling who've carved out their space as comedy acts, but Green is blazing a path in that way.
"A career of highs and lows...didn't complain...did the work..did the extra work...was always ready," Matt Cardona, Green's husband said of his wife. "I'm very proud of you babe..I love you."
WWE must make the most of this run for Chelsea Green
With her capturing the WWE Women's United States Championship for a second time, WWE has to make this run as champion "count." She held the title for 132 days during her first run with defenses against Sol Ruca, and three defenses against Michin.
While Green attempted to do the most with her run as champion, fans often complained that she and the Women's US Title were not getting the opportunity to be a featured part of SmackDown and the WWE main roster. That cannot happen this second time around. Green has caught the attention of fans due to her aforementioned hard work which has led to her becoming the WWE Women's NXT North American Champion. Her partnership with Ethan Page is one of the best acts in the business today, and certainly main roster worthy. Green is thriving. Fans know it. Her peers know it. It's time for WWE to treat her as such with this second run as a main roster champion.
Believe it or not, Chelsea Green has the potential to be a top champion in the women's division. She's going to take this midcard title run and do some entertaining things with it. It may not include 5-star classics, but she will remind everyone why she's one of the best sports entertainers in the world today.
