Chelsea Green is an underrated member of the WWE women's division
There’s a wealth of talent on the WWE roster. While most of the time goes to the men’s division, often to the dismay of fans, it’s impossible to ignore many of the standouts in the women’s division who make it on television each week and the talented performers left backstage. There’s one individual who may not be the top name in mind when it comes to being a champion, but she’s a key member of the women’s division. That person is Chelsea Green and she is a standout on this roster in more ways than one.
Chelsea Green is one of those performers who gets the business of sports entertainment. WWE presents its superstars and in-ring product in a particular way, which works for what this promotion attempts to obtain.
Green can get the job done in the ring. Fans who opine about star ratings might have some thoughts, but what Green does bell to bell works for the sports entertainment product. Her Cagematch rating has her sitting at 6.71, which is a highly serviceable number for either division in the tough world of match criticism. She has some fun entries worth watching such as her 2018 match against Pentagon, the three-way against Kylie Rae and Kamille in 2022, and her recent match against Michin. She can work when given the opportunity to do so with the right talent.
But where Green shines is with her character work. She’s consistently one of the funniest members of the roster, providing a comedic element that is rarely seen in a fashion that is so “unforced.” Watching a Chelsea Green match or promo without chuckling is a difficult ask for anyone.
It’s not just the comedy, but every role that Green has been asked to play. She can be anything from a deranged heel to a babyface that the fans love. Green has the character chops to figure out what works and maximize it every time.
Fans continue to call for WWE to implement mid-card titles for the women’s division. A WWE Women’s Intercontinental or United States Championship would be perfect for Chelsea Green. She could even work with the women’s Money in the Bank, just like Carmella did years ago. There’s a lot of depth in this women’s division and someone like Chelsea Green must not be overlooked when talking about some of the valuable performers in this promotion.
