Deadline must be Oba Femi's final match in WWE NXT

Oba Femi is main roster ready. If he doesn't leave NXT after Deadline then that's nothing less than promotional malpractice.

The WWE main roster needs an infusion of fresh talent and it needs it now. Oba Femi is a fantastic remedy to that need. But in order to get there, he has a match against WWE NXT Champion Ricky Saints at NXT Deadline. The build is presented on the idea that Femi is looking to get that title back, but he doesn’t need it. He certainly doesn’t need it as much as the main roster needs Femi and needs him now.

WWE has a stacked roster on both Monday Night Raw and SmackDown. But the issue with the men’s division has been clear for a long time. It is getting old. Pick any top star not named Bron Breakker and there’s a good chance you’ll pick someone well past his prime. Even Bronson Reed, who is a relatively new name near the main event, is 37 years old and past what would be considered his physical peak.

This is where the call for new blood comes into play. Breakker’s run has shown just how much fun it can be seeing a new performer break through and take their place as a can’t miss attraction. Femi is cut from the same cloth.

Oba Femi has the IT Factor

The 27 year old, Nigerian native is a force. Not only is he a dominating physical force who stands at 6’6 and 310 pounds. But not only is he a visual attraction, Femi has shown some impressive character growth along the way. Look back to his recent promos against Ricky Saints. Saints, who is known for his ability to work a microphone, hasn’t run circles around Femi like he has others in the past. Femi has held his own and that makes his ceiling only rise higher.

Think about some of the matches that could happen. Oba Femi versus the likes of Gunther, Sheamus, Rusev, the aforementioned Reed or Breakker. There are so many possibilities. In fact, Oba Femi would have been a perfect candidate to retire John Cena. Perhaps he’s the man to retire Brock Lesnar. Any of these spots would make perfect sense.

WWE needs to make it a point to capitalize on some of the young performers in the men’s division. While the focus is firmly on Bron Breakker, there are several other pieces worth investing in to strengthen the foundation of the future. Oba Femi is one of those pieces and this upcoming match on NXT Deadline needs to be his last on the brand.
