In WWE, the drama typically plays out in front of the camera, but that isn’t always the case. According to multiple reports, something involving Drew McIntyre went down during the men’s Royal Rumble, leaving the former champion upset at the end of the show. However, according to additional reports, he wasn’t the only individual upset.

PWInsider was the first to report of McIntyre “screaming and cursing” backstage after he’d been eliminated from the match. He then “stormed out” of the arena before the main event was over. Dave Meltzer would further elaborate during the post-show discussion that evening.

“Ok, I did hear about Drew,” Meltzer started. “The Drew story, which Mike Johnson broke, that’s a legit story. There’s a guy that a lot of people were pissed at in that match with the idea that he was trying to get himself over and not the match over. But its multiple people telling me that the Drew thing – he wasn’t happy. It’s not an angle. I heard that Drew is not the only one unhappy about the situation.”

Meltzer would not elaborate on who that person was, saying that it will probably come in the days to come.

For those familiar with Drew McIntyre, this isn’t the first time he’s been visibly angry at the end of a WWE PLE. Rewind the clock to Survivor Series 2024 when CM Punk made a shocking return at the end of the WarGames match. McIntyre stomped off at the close of that show, but again, he wasn’t the only person upset as none of the top stars in that match knew what was coming.

McIntyre is clearly an individual who is passionate about professional wrestling and the professionalism within it. It’s that same passion that has made him one of the most important figures, not only in WWE, but throughout the business. Since the COVID-19 outbreak nearly shuttered operations, McIntyre was the man that WWE leaned on to carry the company through and he delivered. If he’s truly upset about a moment like this, something must not have gone right. A situation which others are reportedly also upset with as well.
