WWE has a slew of names that could be considered as main event attractions. Individuals like CM Punk, Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, Roman Reigns, and others jump to the top of the list. But there are rumblings that Drew McIntyre is in line for a major push, and if that comes to pass it would be an excellent move to make. McIntyre is deserving of such a position and his recent performance proves he has everything needed to be a main event draw for years to come.

WrestleVotes spoke on McIntyre earlier this week and where he is headed in 2025.

“So with the recent return of Drew McIntyre, we were told from a source that WWE feels as though McIntyre is on the cusp, if not already there, of becoming a significant main event, upper echelon attraction, and they attribute some of this to his work over the last 10 months with CM Punk.”

While the work with Punk is highlighted in the quote, McIntyre has been doing some excellent work for the last few years. There was a reason WWE tabbed him as the man to usurp Brock Lesnar right before the COVID-19 global outbreak put most of the industry on hiatus. McIntyre carried the show for those years and never took time away. It makes perfect sense to use that time as the catalyst to McIntyre’s anger toward the rest of the roster. That creative decision has led to some of the best heel booking in WWE in recent memory.

McIntyre deserved the new contract he signed with WWE and he deserves a push to the top. Once WWE makes the jump to Netflix, there are plans to shake up the rosters with a “transfer period” between all three brands. It doesn’t matter if McIntyre ends up on SmackDown or Monday Night Raw, he should be a champion on either show. McIntyre has held the championship three times, but two of those came without fans and the third was less than five minutes long. It is time to give McIntyre a real run at the top, with worthwhile angles and matches along the way.

“You deserve it” is a chant that happens frequently in professional wrestling. Fans are praising performers who have long toiled in the business, finally elevating them to a championship at some level. Drew McIntyre deserves his moment. He’s had some tastes, but it is time to give him a spot at the top of the WWE when the world is watching and the company has all the momentum. He’s a perfect champion to build around for years to come.
