The WWE and TNA Wrestling partnership was one of the more surprising news stories of 2025. The multi-year deal, which is expected to end in 2026, has seen several stars from both promotions show up on the other’s shows throughout the year. One such individual is Leon Slater, who has greatly benefited from the time in the spotlight. So much so, that fans should expect WWE to come calling once his contract with TNA Wrestling is over.
Leon Slater is a 21 year old superstar in the making. With six years of experience, fans who were familiar with the Bradford, England native are sharing the wealth now that he’s on a bigger platform. But exposure via that platform has set the stage for growing speculation that Slater may be a target for acquisition when his deal with TNA Wrestling ends.
On August 7, Fightful reported that Slater’s deal is expected to end in the Fall of 2026. That is plenty of time for negotiations to go one way or the other, but do not be surprised if WWE makes a major play for Slater’s talents.
Leon Slater has made the most of his time in the spotlight
Leon Slater has had multiple standout moments during the WWE-TNA partnership. He was in the Iron Survivor match at WWE NXT Deadline 2025, and that was the latest entry into what has been a stellar run for the TNA X-Division Champion. Not only has he had several big matches from the last year, but he had a “passing of the torch” segment with AJ Styles that captured the attention of many when the latter returned to TNA Wrestling.
Slater, much like Je’Von Evans who is on a similar path, has an extensive resume which includes several of the top promotions in wrestling. He’s appeared in New Japan Pro Wrestling, GCW, Progress, RevPro and several others.
Slater’s resume includes several matches worth a watch. For example, his matches against the likes of Michael Oku, Mike Bailey, Myron Reed, and Lio Rush are worth going out of your way to find. Slater has shown that he’s a star and it makes sense why WWE would be interested in bringing him over.
WWE has already snatched up two big names from TNA Wrestling in Jordynne Grace and Joe Hendry. Do not be surprised if Leon Slater is added to that list by the end of 2026. He has all the skill and personality to be one of the big names of the future.
