On Tuesday, former TNA Knockouts Champion, Masha Slamovich, was accused of domestic violence of a former partner, independent wrestler, AKIRA after texts and photos surfaced on social media. This led to an investigation being opened by her employers at TNA.

Pro Wrestling Illustrated released their annual PWI 500 wrestlers. One writer celebrated on social media that Slamovich (Anna Khozina) was the highest ranked woman on the list. Someone replied asking why an abuser was being celebrated.

The person posted several pictures of the reported physical abuse. They included screenshots of text messages between the former couple, where Slamovich exhibited abusive language. The user also included a link to a Dropbox. The Dropbox folder had other examples of concerning behavior and alleged abuse from Slamovich towards AKIRA, whom she was in a relationship with at the time.

AKIRA (Alexander Atkisson) addressed the contents of the Dropbox folder, confirming that a friend of his had the alleged proof and that he hadn’t really wanted to talk about it. He also stated he was afraid to say anything about the abuse by Slamovich because he was “trying to get signed.”

He also says that enduring abuse from his partner made him attempt suicide three times. “I can’t get that time back. I can’t get the money back. I can’t get the last four years of my life back. I was just trying my best to come back and be with my family and friends and dog, and try to get signed. I dreamed of doing things.”

Jon Alba of The Takedown on SI reported that a spokesperson for TNA said they have begun an investigation into the allegations. The statement reads,“we take any allegations like this very seriously, and have begun an internal investigation.”

TNA wrestlers invaded NXT as part of an ongoing storyline and a multi-year partnership between the promotions. Slamovich has been featured in both TNA and NXT. She competed for the TNA Knockouts World Title in a Triple Threat against Jacy Jayne and Ash By Elegance at NXT Heatwave last month. It is unclear if she was scheduled to be involved in any storyline angles involving the invasion.

AKIRA is currently a free agent. Most recently, he held the BJW Death Match Heavyweight Champion. He also held the MLW World Middleweight and MLW Tag Team Championships, respectively.
