Anarchy in the Arena is set. Looks like Willow Nightingale, Swerve Strickland, Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Kenny Omega will take on some iteration of The Death Riders and The Elite. Even with those names on one side, it looks like Strickland’s team is down a few bodies. Fans are speculating that Gabe Kidd’s inclusion in the match opens the door for a huge return in Eddie Kingston.
For a moment, it looked like Samoa Joe was about to win the AEW World Championship for a second time. That was until Gabe Kidd showed up, helping Jon Moxley keep the title. Per the usual, that led to a huge brawl between the two groups. Even though Strickland and company stood tall, they may need some backup to take on the powerful union that is The Deathriders and The Elite.
Eddie Kingston is missed by all
The one-year mark has recently passed since Eddie Kingston’s last match when he suffered a horrific knee injury. The man who took him out? None other than Gabe Kidd at NJPW Strong Resurgence on May 11, 2024. Videos of Kingston training have fueled speculation that his return is coming soon, and this moment on AEW Dynamite threw gas on that fire.
Eddie Kingston is a component of the AEW roster that fans have missed. Not only fans, but creative has as well. Kingston would be the perfect foil for Moxley as the leader of The Deathriders. If Moxley hates what AEW has become, he should have to take on the man who is considered the “heart and soul” of the promotion. Kingston has long been that figure, and this would be a great way to bring him back.
Anarchy in the Arena has not been officially announced for Double of Nothing, but expectations are that it will soon be added to the show. The PPV is scheduled for Sunday, May 25, and this would be a huge addition to the card. If Gabe Kidd has really aligned himself with the powers that be at the top of AEW, expect him to be involved in the card. And if he’s there, he should be welcomed by the returning Eddie Kingston.
