There’s a lot of talk about who are big names for the future of professional wrestling. When focusing specifically on WWE, there’s a lot of momentum behind Je’Von Evans being a featured performer for the future. He’s certainly a talented superstar and is quickly proving that he has the mettle to be one of the top names in the company.

The Greensboro, North Carolina native, has become one of the hottest rising stars in the company. Even before he made his WWE debut back in 2024, fans were already clamoring about him as a name to watch. This came after he had the opportunity to compete in several organizations like GCW, Battle Slam, and All Elite Wrestling.

But his time in WWE has put a stamp on his spot as one of the future stars of the company. Evans has used his time in NXT to become one of the most dynamic performers on the roster. He’s tailor-made to be a name that children want to watch and will follow throughout his career. He’s the next generation of high-flyer, and while he isn’t of Latino descent, he can become a fan favorite akin to how Rey Mysterio, who despite his size became one of the most important stars in wrestling history.

Still, there are questions about when WWE will push Evans through the ceiling. In NXT, he’s remained one of the more popular stars on the roster, but he’s continually booked in the runner-up position. He’s challenged for the NXT Championship several times, coming up short every opportunity. The fans want to see him get the big moment, but WWE’s questionable booking of beating some babyfaces over and over again continues to prove it is only effective in killing a star’s momentum.

Evans has recently popped up on SmackDown. He took on Sami Zayn in an open challenge on September 26, and that match received a lot of praise. Fans quickly warmed up to Evans the second he started flying around the ring. He’s since won a tag match as well. It’s almost like WWE is testing how well Evans will be received if he’s moved to the main roster.

Then there’s that question. The main roster hasn’t been too kind to Black male talent. In fact, the main roster does not have any Black champions at this time. Will Evans get a “fair” opportunity to become a fan favorite, or will he be underutilized like others on SmackDown or Monday Night Raw? That’s a scary idea to put out there, but one that can’t be ignored based on factual data.

Still, Je’Von Evans is one of those performers who is becoming a must-see name. He’s only 21 years old, so there’s a lot of growth that he can do mentally, emotionally, physically, and professionally. WWE should make it a point to keep him under contract because he’s going to be a top star of the future.
