Fans and wrestling media members will debate about the effectiveness and the importance of The Bloodline angle for years to come. Regardless on whatever side those voices may fall, one thing is truly clear. This angle opened the door to Jey Uso to build a massive wave of momentum. He's heading into WrestleMania 41 to face GUNTHER for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. However, in the weeks between the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania this angle is rapidly losing steam. This issue points to the idea that perhaps Jey Uso isn't truly a main event talent.

Saying that Jey Uso isn't a main event performer is not the same as saying he's not massively popular with fans. The reaction he gets every time he's on television or his music hits; that reaction cannot be ignored. It's the power of the fans that have elevated so many other stars in the past. Performers like Becky Lynch and Kofi Kingston rode the support of fans to career heights. It's understandable for fans to want to see Uso achieve the same thing.

Does Jey Uso hold up compared to other top names on the roster?

However, even with that support the question remains if Uso is the correct individual at this time. The WrestleMania 41 card is taking shape and there are several big matches in the men's division. CM Punk, Roman Reigns, and Seth Rollins are all locked into a feud in which one of them will come out the victor. John Cena and Cody Rhodes are set for a feud that is what's "best for business." Bron Breakker is expected to take part in a big muli-man match for his Intercontinental Championship. There are other names worth considering as well, who should be in line for big pushes after WrestleMania. Uso feels like a step below all of them in many different ways.

When Jey Uso first broke out as the top foil to Roman Reigns, fans were immediately invested in this new view of the tag team star. He delivered in that moment. First, it was the pain of having to battle against his cousin for respect, to becoming Reigns's biggest supporter, welcoming in Sami Zayn, falling out with Zayn, then falling out with Roman again, to finally stepping into his own on Monday Night Raw. That entire angle was packed full of layers throughout the ride.

But all that seemed to stop when Jey became the "YEET" machine. He devolved into a catchphrase and a dance during his introduction. Many recognized that his character was stagnant, which is why many pushed back on the idea of him defeating Ilja Dragunov in the King of the Ring tournament (eventually being eliminated by Gunther) and defeating Breakker for the IC title for a 28-day run. There were so many incliniations of WWE wanting to do a huge push for him, but so many stops along the way.

Triple H gets a lot of credit for having his angles booked with more foresight in mind. That creates the question of what is his end goal with Jey Uso? Is he going to put the title on him at WrestleMania 41? If so, how will he make him feel as big of a name compared to some of his peers on the roster? Those questions must be answered because right now, Jey Uso is not feeling like a main event player in today's WWE.
