During the June 30 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, a vignette of Kairi Sane ran. The former WWE NXT Women’s Champion ran through her accolades and made it clear she’s coming to take her place at the top. Sane is long overdue for a strong run near or at the top of the women’s division on the main roster, and here’s to hoping it actually comes true sooner, rather than later.

Kairi Sane has a sneaky-good resume. With 13 years of in-ring experience, she’s already amassed 14 different title reigns. That includes the NXT Women’s Championship and the two-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship that she pointed out in the video. Her time in Japan should never be overlooked, as she picked up multiple titles in Stardom and was the first IWGP Women’s Champion.

“I fight hard and I fight with honor,” Sane said during the video. “To all the champions, I will have all your gold. I don’t run from the storm. I run into it. The Pirate Princess is here.”

The WWE women’s division needs some fresh faces as top challengers

It makes sense why WWE and professional wrestling companies in general keep popular performers near the top of the card. Big stars equal drawing power for shows around the world. However, WWE has a serious problem building new stars, especially in the women’s division.

The women’s championships on both shows consistently rotate between the same few individuals. It is rare for WWE to build a new name from the midcard into the title picture. When they do, they find success. Liv Morgan is a recent example of that. As is Lyra Valkyria, who is currently in a big feud with Becky Lynch and Bayley.

Kairi Sane is someone who could find the same success if she were given the opportunity. IYO Sky won the WWE Women’s World Championship back in April at WrestleMania 41. Sane returned to action in May. If WWE had no intention of reforming Damage CTRL, they should have booked a mini-feud between Sane and Sky. They have years of history against each other and as companions. Yet, that never happened.

Kairi Sane has all the abilities to be a major name in the women’s division. WWE has shown a willingness to book her as a top name. She’s been a champion before, won the Mae Young Classic, and achieved much more. If she’s going on a singles run on Monday Night Raw, here’s to the hope she gets a strong run that leads to some type of singles championship reign.
