There are a lot of wrestlers who fans want to see get their "shine." What that means changes from person to person, but it always points to some aspect of success after years of being a key part, but never the top name. Kyle O'Reilly is one of those performers. He's found himself involved in a vital AEW angle and he's picked up perhaps the most important wins in the last decade of his career.
Kyle O'Reilly has been one of the best wrestlers no one talks about for much of his 2 decade career. While he has two important singles title reigns under his belt, as he held the PWG World Championship and was a Ring of Honor World Champion, he's known for being a standout tag team wrestler for much of her career. And he's been great in that role across several promotions.
Yet, these last few months have seen O'Reilly emerge as a singles performer in All Elite Wrestling. He's been involved in a major angle against The Deathriders. But not only that, he has picked up multiple wins over Jon Moxley, the singular most important performer in the history of AEW.
O'Reilly walked out of AEW Full Gear 2025 with another win over Moxley, one that should elevate him in a way that fans haven't seen in years. The last time KOR was seen as a potential singles champion was during the latter portions of his run in WWE NXT. While he didn't capture any singles gold, he was positioned as a true threat to the champions around at that time.
It will be interesting to see how this run in All Elite Wrestling plays out. It's hard to see KOR capturing the AEW World Championship, as that title seems to be for the best of the best. But, there are several other singles titles in the company that he could capture. Perhaps he could even regain the ROH World Championship for the second time.
However things play out, Kyle O'Reilly getting his shine is something that fans have long wanted to see. Here's to hoping this is a sustained push that sees him capture a championship at some point.
